Just noticed Sapp looks to have pretty good size and athleticism for an OLB, just from looking at him compared to the other LBs

We are going to struggle to throw the ball consistently this year for sure. You just can't lose the receiving talent we had plus install a new offense with a new starting QB and light the world on fire. Hope the rest of our fanbase is prepared.

The next 2 years in general. 2015 I predict us to be a lot better.

It's ironic you say that as I told a firend the other day it will be 2016 before the Vols contend for the East. The 2014 recruiting class will hopefully be stout, and they will be juniors in 2016. I truly feel this upcoming recruiting class will be the one to turn this ship around.

We have areas of talent on the current roster but not enough elite(depth) kids like UGA, Florida, Bama, LSU, and even USCjr. Sure we may be able to compete w/ some of those teams before 2016, but we should expect to win a lot of those games in 2016.- like the 90s.

This current roster is hungry imo and a strong work ethic will help overcome adversity, however, talent and chemistry are important. The 90 Vols' teams were able to beat teams in close games b/c they had better talent.

I fear this year will be a repeat of 2008, struggling to pass the ball and sustain dives.

JMO.

Sounds about right. I think we can all agree on one thing, let's just see improvement each game. Not expecting much this year but if we can at least look disciplined and have some fire each time we play I will be happy.

So this is year zero?

Our Oline has a gajillion starts as opposed to 0, we don't have Matt Simms at QB, our RB isn't Tauren Poole, we have players who can catch punts and kickoffs, and we aren't starting freshman at every other position.

Definitely not year zero.

Agree. Man, how the Vols have fallen. I remember being upset for losing one or two games in the 90's and the turn of the century, usually to Florida. UT had so much more talent than the rest of the SEC, and our talent prevailed down the stretch. The knock on Fulmer, especially outside the state of TN, was he relied on talent alone to prevail in close games. An example was when Vols played/lost to the Gators as Spurrier outcoached Fulmer and the Vols struggled to adjust.
Bama-never will forget Saban beating the vols his first yr i think, infamous on sides kick and ut never in the game..
LSU-2001 SEC championship. I was in Atlanta & at halftime thought the game was over as we knocked out their RB and QB.
I am Not sure I agree with the knock (s) on Fulmer, but my point is we got spoiled and now talking about another 5-7 winning season, probably the same for 2014 and 7-8 wins in 2015? I may be wrong, but I don't think Worley will be the one to lead us to the promise land.

Fade, I agree 100%. We will struggle this year and 2014 imo, as we lose our offensive line. 2015 may be a seven to eight win season, but I am thinking 2016 is the yr we should make noise, if we retain our current class and continue to build on it.

Why is it that there's never any news on Drae Bowles? Every time I've seen him in these practice videos or pre game warm ups he never drops a thing, unlike some of the others.

Guys, you win and lose in the trenches as that is the way to slow the game and take away some talent advantages. This year we may be breaking in skill positions but not the lines AT ALL. You are giving Jones a lot of slack IMO. We should know real fast how this coach will perform here but our schedule is hardcore, I will give him that. We absolutely should make a bowl at the very minimum this year and in 2014 the SEC will have a changing of the guard at many of the powerhouse schools with regards to personnel.

1 thing i would say is a coach with a real offensive system can produce in less than great circumstances - i watched a couple Cincy games last year and their QB play was terrible and their receivers other than the TE not overly talented - yet the system was still able to move the ball

i am honestly more worried about it being year 1 in the system than the talent we have running it - i think our talent is superior to what he had year 1 at cincy - but learning a new system could be the issue - CBC's 1st year at Cicny was a bit rough

I keep seeing you guys post that we won't contend for the east until '15 or '16. I read a stat that said every coach (in the SEC) that has won a National or SEC Championship won at least nine games in their second season... So are you saying Butch is the exception? Or is he not a championship coach? This stat is from Clay Travis, so bear with me.

Let me get my crystal ball out..... It says..... Your question will not be answered until 2015.
