I heard about this yesterday. Morgan is in dang good shape, but it has to be embarrasing to get ran down by a 69 year old person. Still, props to him for helping out.

It was great to see Morgan get some air time today during practice for the Nationwide race.

On the drive home tonight, they were talking bout it on the radio. The host said, "Morgan Shepherd for President...seriously."

Morgan is one of the good guys, sometimes to his detriment. He refused to be sponsored by tobacco or beer brands. I never met him face to face, but I talked to him on the phone several times. He was JD Stacy's driver when I was working with Stacy doing sponsor packages.

He sure does seem in all his interviews like a real genuine man. Amazing to know that he is 69. If only we could all be that lucky to be in that shape and mind.

When you say sponsor packages, you mean selling sponsorship? I'm not familiar with that term.

I was the Director of Marketing for Raceland Motorsports which operated four race tracks including Kingsport. I sold race sponsorship packages that were tied into track signage. I successfully presented these to Pepsi, Wendys, Coors, Shoneys, Capt D's, Old Milwaukee and about a dozen local companies. I got a nice electronic scoreboard provided by Pepsi. We did a promotion with Old Milwaukee with a personal appearance by Tim Richmond.

Dang, that sounds like a great gig. Was Tim a cordial fella?

I met Harry in the Bristol press suite after he set the fast pole speed. He didn't remember meeting you either.

When you roll in the celebrity crowd like me and Harry, you meet thousands of famous people, I guess I can forgive his memory lapse.

I had already got to know Tim from his early days in racing in Ohio. One of my good friends built engines for his sprint cars, and his father was a client of mine. Tim was just like you saw him, wild and out for a good time. He came with two hot blondes that were Met Art quality.
