All wiki has is currently:

A third film is currently in the development stage with a tentative release date of 2010. After having read the script, Ed Boon has stated that the upcoming movie will be more of a reboot than a third sequel, as had been previously believed. A possible trailer has appeared on the internet showcasing Michael Jai White as Jax, Jeri Ryan as Sonya Blade, Matt Mullins as Johnny Cage, Ian Anthony Dale as Scorpion and Lateef Crowder as Baraka. Kevin Tancharoen directed the short and Larnell Stovall choreographed the fight scenes

meh...I'm past caring about that game. They raised the bar so high that they can't do anything to match the buzz they had during their run.

I just still think hollywood can't turn a video game into a good movie

Sadly it doesn't look like Hollywood can make anything good anymore. Nothing but constant reboots and remakes that the masses continually eat up for reasons unbeknownst to me.

I think they've finally gotten good at turning the comics into movies though.

Look at how those are doing now - thanks to movies like Spider-man and Spider-man 2 giving them life again - as opposed to when all you got (after superman 3) were movies like Batman returns and Batman & Robin and the genre was left for dead or considered "child's play"

Problem is that they just seem to hand off video game movies to people who can't make them work. When you're working on making a movie off of something that has a story already, you need to work on capturing the events and feel that already fills the story and makes it so popular....not hand it off to some guy who's creative ideas are that Bowser should be human and "Mushroom Kingdom" means everything's actually covered and ooze, grime, and fungus (to cite that terrible Super Mario Bros movie as an example of this)

....oh and that people evolving from dinosaurs thing they tried too

99% sure this movie will suck.

At least the first one sucked in that awesome 90's kind of way. Christopher Lambert included.

The first Blade was not bad, Spiderman was good, then the last two Batmans have set the bar.

Both Iron Man movies nailed the character perfect too.

oh yeah, I think they finally understand the actual work needs to be put into these movies, how to do so, and that -when they are done correctly (Spider-man 2, The Dark Knight, The Iron Man movies) they are absolutely capable of reeling in huge profit. Their view of these types of films have definitely changed from the previous one in the 90s ("silly" or "kids movies" come to mind)

I think video games have that same potential for film, you just have to put the actual, serious work into the film (not treat it as "the name alone will sell") and give it to someone who both respects the material and knows how to work with it (not someone who's just going to use, twist, or make major changes to it to tell "their" own story)

I'd say the first X-Men movie was the first that I saw that told me they were taking them more seriously. Plus I'd add in between Superman 3 and that, the first Batman was pretty good.

What's sad is the original MK movie is probably the best VG movie that's been made.

The only other ones I could stand were Silent Hill and the first Resident Evil movie, but as I'm a big fan of both of the games, even still I think they both aren't great because they changed the stories too way too much, though I give SH credit for at least getting the visual right and RE sort of got it. Plus RE got knocked down since the 2 sequels have been awful and the fourth one looks even dumber.

Now if we counted animated movies, there's actually been some pretty good ones. The Street Fighter animated movie from the 90's is good and Resident Evil Degeneration was a million times better than any of the live action movies.

yeah it was, but unfortunately Batman Returns, Kilmer in Batman Forever, and Schumacher's Batman & Robin were what kinda dragged batman movies down and almost completely out until Batman Begins in 05

Batman Returns wasn't horrible but it was definitely not as good as the first one.

Batman Forever sucked and Batman & Robin is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Plus I alway add Catwoman as sort of a spinoff, because it sucked as well.

I loved the first one, but the only way I will watch this is if they make the people from different Realms, not bull**** deformities.
