Was thinking about this earlier today with the season halfway over. No doubt the back half of our schedule is difficult, minus a couple cupcakes. Here’s how I ranked them.

#1 Bama: away game. Prime time CBS. Bama is loaded with 4/5 star talent. The series has not gone in our favor much over the past, well quite some time. Milroe is hot and cold.

#2 Georgia: #1 team. Their QB is playing really well. Saving grace is it’s a home game and Bowers likely out. They haven’t looked like the typical UGA of the past few years though.

#3 Missouri: this game could be very challenging. Their offense is red hot. Luther Burden is probably the best receiver in the country and their QB is mobile. Away game. Would be a dang good effort come away with a win.

#4 Kentucky: In typical wildcat fashion, they seem to be imploding. It is a night game at UK however and other than the blowout last year, this game has been closer than you would like in recent years. Expect a heavy dose of Ray Davis, although or D-line is outstanding. They are coming off a bye however.

#5 Vandy: Home game. They aren’t very good, but have put some points on the board, although our D should feast on their OL and QB.

#6 UCONN: Enough said. Home game. It’s a blowout for the good guys.

Any different thoughts?

All of them are challenging! One game at a time

This is one of those exercises that is different for the fans vs the team. The team should always stay laser focused on the game ahead of them. The games after that do not matter, ever. As much as a lot of fans try to take that same outlook as the team its perfectly fine for the fans to look ahead on the schedule because we aren't going to be on the field and need to stay so focused. So let's put aside the one game at a time narrative for the fans for a moment. With that said I think the list as presented in the first post is pretty spot on. Bama will be a harder game that Georgia because of it being an away game. Not that Georgia is going to be easy they are the team to beat for a reason but from a challenge perspective home vs away means a lot. Both teams in these situations are beatable and the Vols if they can get their act together is capable of beating any team in the nation. Now will the team get its act together. Can the O'Line go into hostile territory and not give up 50+ yards in presnap penalties forcing uncomfortable 3rd and long time and again? Can the cornerbacks figure out that turning to face the ball is the difference between a flag and a highlight. Can Joe calm his feet down while in the pocket trying to lead a receiver while at the same time realizing when its time to allow that big body to lower the shoulder and take an extra couple yards by force when its needed.

I don’t see us losing to Missouri. However we aren’t blowing them out like we have the past 2 years either. Their offense is legit. They have the best WR in college football.
I agree. And agree about Burden. The recruiting rankings on him turned out very accurate, perhaps even low. He is extremely good

You got the order about right. One could argue Bama vs UGa, but it's kinda nitpicky.

The thing your list misses is a sense of context. Here's what you do. You put some space below #2, before the rest. A lot of space. Like Put Bama and UGa up there, then 5,000 feet of open ocean, then some whale poop, then go another 50 feet, THEN put Mizzou and the rest.

#3 and beyond are not a challenge to us. Mizzou is, as Kentucky was until a few weeks ago, propped up by hot air. Those 6 wins, they're a mirage. They're fairy dust, thrown before your eyes. It's not real. It doesn't mean anything. Mizzou is a paper tiger, just as Kentucky is a paper kitten. As long as our lads show up to play, those are both near-certain victories for the fellas in Orange and White.

Folks keep trying to say the back half of our schedule is rougher than the front half. Because of Bama & UGa, that kinda sorta makes sense. But it's not as stark as you make it seem. The front half of our schedule had 2 peer challenges, with 4 should-win-easilys. The back half has 2 Real Challenges and 4 should-win-easilies. It's as simple as that.

Go Vols!

I would flip #2 & #1. I think the UGA game is the hardest game because they haven't lost in 2 and a half years. Yeah the Bama game is tough being on the road but I don't think Bama is good as UGA.
