Since most everyone here could do the jobs of others at a much higher level, which do you think is most difficult?

I would say since very few of us have ever held any of the first three jobs, the only answer should be "I have no idea."

From what I understand, though, coaches (especially successfully ones) work an insane number of hours. Plus, it's a tough position: succeed at a high level or you're out in a couple of years. Refs and reporters can suck and still be employed for decades. I'll refrain from using any names.

Coaching. Constant public scrutiny, the workload is enormous, and you have to live in the community that pressures you. Refs deal with public scrutiny for 3 hours a week, 15 weeks a year. The guy who missed the PI call in the Saints/Rams game....nobody knows who he is, except a few crazies who sent him letters.

Being an anonymous message board moderator. Very difficult job and that’s what I tell freak every time he begs me to be a mod. Couldn’t pay me enough

I voted officiating. I think it’s probably the most high pressure job of those listed in the moment (meaning making a critical call on a particular play). Over the course of a season probably harder to be a coach.

At least coaches get to enjoy victories/championships now and then. Officials have to be content with personal pride/ respect from peers. Of course officials are part time, while media and coaches are earning a living.

I was torn between coaching and officiating but you tipped it to coaching based on job security.

Not only head coaching but assistants basically have to be nomads in their early careers. Generally the same age range when people are starting families. That can’t be easy. Then your job depends on other people performing in a game.

Officiating is hard. Things are moving very fast on the field.... but job security is pretty safe.

Media?!?! Please. THAT is a cush job.
