I don't think this is really the right aspect of the game to focus on...

I don't really have any contempt for any players off the top of my head.

Chris Leak is an outstanding quarterback, athlete, and student. Some of you say you have contempt for him, which seems silly to me. But out of curiosity as to how an utterly loyalty-blinded fan can think, what is the logic of having anything other than respect for Chris Leak? What has he done, or not done, that earns him that disdain?

You know your right! We should be more like Gator fans who speak with great respect for UT players.

Only bammer fans speak with more hate on UT players and coaches than the swamp lizards who play in Neyland south.

We have quite a history with the Leaks.

During the 03 recruiting season ESPN allowed Chris to write a recruiting diary on their website. Chris was all locked up and headed to UT at the time.

Casey Clausen, the Vol's starting QB got hurt during the 02 season that preceeded the 03 recruiting period. During the 02 season Chris was writing weekly entries about his recruitment and his brother C. J. was the backup to Clausen. C. J. had been told that if he worked hard his time would come.

It came during the 02 Georgia game with Clausen injured. C. J. started and played two series. He was the most lost QB I have ever seen wear the Orange. He had no idea what to do. He couldn't find a receiver because he was too busy trying to make something happen with his legs.

On the third offensive series we put in James Banks. Banks had taken almost no meaningful snaps with the first team prior to that week. He proceeded to lead the Vols to a near upset of the Dawgs. We were in it down to the very last play due to his athleticism.

Chris then attacked Coach Fulmer in the most public way on the Internet.

He called Fulmer a liar.

Tennessee withdrew their scholarship offer.

Chris's dad came to Tennessee to talk to Coach Fulmer. No deal was worked out and Chris really turned up the volume in his recruiting diary.

C. J. continued to play for the Vols, though he was on the bench. He kept his mouth shut and I've never heard of him saying a negative thing about the Vols. I have respect for C. J. to this point.

Chirs is an arrogant little arse who is highly overrated as a QB.

When he's being touted by the national media as a Heisman candidate but is voted behind Jay Cutler, the Vandy QB for preseason honors, what does that tell you about his perception around the league?

Chris and his dad deserve the vitriol they receive from Vol fans. They broght it on themselves with low-class behavior.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt in that your world does not revolve around the Vols, so I'll tell you what he did without my tongue in my cheek.

Chris Leak was actually supposed to come to UT, they had a very strong recruiting relationship, but then he said some very negative things about the coaching staff when they made the RIGHT decision to sit CJ Leak against Georgia in 2002. Because we didn't play his brother, he blasted our program and went to one of our fiercest rivals.

I don't hate the kid, but I'm certainly glad he's not on our program, and he's not quite the perfect specimen you seem to think. Anybody who would be so childish about something like your brother's playing time has some issues with immaturity.

Well I feel better knowing that. When we say hate down here we don't really hate them it is just fodder. :eek:k:

I can tell you I hope Leak gets out in Meyer's great veer option offense on a wing or qb keeper, lets just say I won't be upset to see him get face planted in the swamp, but I don't hate him really, just really think he's an overrated qb who gets all this hype for doing what? Still unsure about that. Stats are great, but what has he won again?

GO BIG ORANGE!!

David Pollock. I got so sick of the announcers gushing over one of the most overrated players I've ever seen. Wow he had an interception and a touchdown versus South Carolina, he must be the second coming of Christ.
