This question was poised to me by a good friend.

"Will Tennessee win more games in conference or out of conference?".

Now I know that some of you sunshine pumpers are going to get angry, but I actually think it's a good question.

Let's consider the facts.
WKU
USA
APU

should by all accounts be wins. The remaining questions should be answered with this algorithm.

1) If you are a sunshine pumper and think we beat oregon, then which 5 SEC games do you think we win? (says *more* not equal).

OR

2) If you are a negavol and figure Oregon smashes us, then do you give us no chance to beat Auburn or Mizzouri (along with Vandy and Kentucky which are considered likely).

so, i thought it was a unique way to ask the question and I answered him. Then i thought I would post it here for discussion sake. (Because VN has been too quiet)

same for both. Mizzou, Vandy, and UK. Don't see the Smokey Vols being able to avoid the Gus Bus.

If Butch measures up to my estimation of him as a coach he has more SEC wins.
Assuming no major injuries.

Vandy, Ky, Mizzou, and any of GA, SC, FL, or Auburn.

I don't think this young team can beat OR that early on in OR.

i would sum up the season by saying it'll be

6 of one, half-dozen of the other.

i expect it to be 3 in conf and 3 out of conf, but we shall see. I love the Vols and hope that I am wrong. There is nowhere to go but up at this point.

Auburn has as many problems as we do and the game is in Knoxville. We roll in that one.

I'm here, but I think Auburn slides over with the first 3.

Definately out of conference, we've only won 2 SEC games in 2 years and probably will only win 1 or 2 this year....unfortunately.

If history has any say, we definately lose to Auburn. I'd say we have a better chance with Oregon, Florida or South Carolina than Auburn. Fact is, Auburn has owned the Vols for the last 35 years.

It's been streaky. "Owned" is too strong a word. They have owned us the last 5 games

Here's record for last 35 years Auburn leads 11-10-2
Auburn's won the last 5 but before that all Vols. Please retract "owned the Vols for the last 35 years". :rtfm:

Now that I think about it, the series between us and Auburn between 1989 thru 1991 was pretty "classic."

It's time to beat them again.
