Mountain West, C-USA to combine into one 22-team conference

Woooo.... that's a big conference.

Although with super conferences on the horizon, the smaller schools have to do something to stay afloat.

Wouldn't be surprised to see a few teams from both conferences pull out after this, this is just too much. Boise's an obvious candidate to leave.

22 teams? I thought the MWC only had 8. I also thought TCU was invited to the Big 12. All these conference mergers. I can't keep up. Pretty funny though. No one remembers when the MWC used to be a 16 team conference (1996) and they decided it was too big.......

I think their hope is that they will have enough strong football teams here to get the aq status. They knew they could not get it on their own so they had to go this route.

Seems like it would make more sense for the WAC to join back with the MWC, and CUSA to join with the Sun Belt.

I think it's less of a 22-team conference and more like MWC and CUSA agree to have their conference champions play each other in a championship game. Doubt there will be many intra-division conference games played at all.
