After this, I can't see BYU leaving the conference. I think they'd actually be alright as far as football goes out on their own, but the rest of their athletic department will be screwed if there's no WAC to fall back on.

After this, I can't see BYU leaving the conference. I think they'd actually be alright as far as football goes out on their own, but the rest of their athletic department will be screwed if there's no WAC to fall back on.

I don't think they'll be ok in the long run on their own. They don't have the same "clout" as Notre Dame.

Personally I don't see why they just don't bring in the rest of the WAC to the MWC like they did in the mid 90s when the WAC went to 16 teams.

If I were the MWC commish, this is what I would do:

12 team league, two divisions.

Pacific:

BYU
Boise St.
Fresno St.
UNLV
Nevada
San Diego St.

Mountain:

TCU
Houston*
Wyoming
Colorado St.
New Mexico
Air Force

*new addition from CUSA

If not Houston, then Hawaii in the Pacific and BYU over to the Mountain side.
