I'm ready to put the loss last night in the past. We play at Bama Saturday. What sort of changes will CCM make to try to get these players motivated and playing better basketball?

Martin's reply would be NONE.
'Got to hit shots.'

That's a BS stance Cal
You said he wouldn't make changes, he's too stubborn.

-you wanted lineup change he made it
-you wanted tempo change they pushed it
-some wanted to see zone, they played it

So the whole, he's stubborn and won't make changes is BS.

As for what he's gonna do? Hope someone emerges as a leader and appears to want to win, besides McRae, Richardson and stokes. Ideally this team needs golden to wake the F up.

Kinda hard to wipe that one ----that quick, BUT; after Saturday's butt whipping at bama, you can put another one behind you. Sorry, but if you invested a bunch in UT BB, you are in for some grief. When is baseball? :)

You're right BTO.
Martin's a great coach and we're going to make the run of the century.

Is it time to acknowledge that this team just isn't good and that the second coming of Rupp could only make them slightly above average?

Not what I'm saying, but pick a side of the fence. You wanted change, you said he was til stubborn to change his lineup or style...guess what he did both.

So what now is your complaint?

You may think you've seen change. I haven't.
Starting McRae was a start.
I couple of plays where you beat the defense down the floor doesn't make a high tempo game on our part.
Adding an ill designed zone and little practiced wasn't impressive.
You've tried to put the blame everywhere except where it belongs.
Martin at this point in time is a young coach that can't find his way on offense and can't come up with a system that fits his players.
Not like it's been over the last couple of games.

Weren't you just telling me about how you live by the "put hope in one hand and crap in the other" philosophy?

Same story from the Martin Posse as last season. When the going gets tough, blame the players. They suck, have low IQ, no talent, couldn't be coached by Rupp, it goes on, and on, and on...

Now you sound like Martin.
A big part of this game is mental.
Martin has gotten into his kid's heads.
After being told after every game they suck, 'got to make shots', they've started to believe him.
Guy needs to man up and admit he's lost. (to himself that is)

If Martin gets fired I hope Dave Hart looks to VN, we've got plenty of qualified candidates. (Atleast thats what they've convinced themselves of)

So the missed shots are martins fault? Mcbee shooting like he as is martins fault?

If Martin has hurt this players feelings so bad why are McRae and Richardson, and possibly stokes, now playing their best ball?

Martin is as successful as Pearl was coaching up shooters. In this system it's a huge problem. Pearl had the exact same problem his last year here.

This team resembles that one. The only difference is that team had 2 McDonalds All Americans including a future NBA SF
that were able to grind out some points but it was hardly ever pretty

my 2 cents: Teams that have quick guards that like to penetrate are difficult to guard for all our guards except maybe Richardson. McBee and Golden do well against guards that are not real quick, but quick ones kill them. McRae just isn't a very disciplined defender IMO. TN does well defending the single ball screen at the top, but Ole Miss threw a double screen at the top and they scored alot off that. They either drove the basket or someone was open due to someone having to help.

Offensively, TN doesn't have good penetraters except for Josh and Jordan. And IMO they don't do that near enough. All the guards need to drive the ball more. When they do usually something good happens. They pass back and forth around the top of the key too much. Golden was doing that earlier in the year and seems to have just stopped. Maybe he's injured or something. And IMO, the offensive set seems always the same. The defenders seem to know exactly where the ball is going most the time. And yes, they need to either step up and start making open 3's or either drive the basket on the kickouts.

I believe Hubbs will make a world of difference next year.

? for BTO, is Landry a quick guard and good defender? Is he more of a true PG and make stuff happen and get the ball where it needs to be?
