I like Charles. For a different view Neuhiesel (spelling) said that CBJ was in for a rude awaking once you step into SEC. Neuhiesel said he loved UT, the facilities were the best he had seen and ranked with the Baltimore Ravens as to facilities. Said it would take four plus years to get on track and the biggest problem will be recruiting against the name brand coaches in the SEC.

Charles is, of course, a Tennessee loyalist but he is also a very astute analyst, one that, as so many others have observed, would make a great Athletics Director for UT in the not-too-distant future. His remarks concerning Butch Jones, however, are paralleled by those of fellow commentator Robert Smith (ESPN), who stated (see the same source as you cited):

"My top hire this offseason is Butch Jones at Tennessee. From the bottom up, he's really going to be helpful at Tennessee, a school that hasn't seen any type of stability over the last five years. I think they made the right choice in Butch Jones. I had an opportunity to sit down with him when he was at Central Michigan and when he was at Cincinnati. He knows how to build from the foundation of a program. Everything from the way a kid goes to class, to the way they carry themselves, to the pride they have in their school. It's not like Tennessee hasn't had a dearth of talent. They just haven't had the right people to get the talent doing the things they are supposed to do. I think Butch Jones is going to do a great job with that. Obviously, playing the SEC, it's difficult to jump in and make a change right away. I think it's going to take a couple of years, but I think he's the type of guy that will get that place turned around. He's the right person to get Tennessee going the right way."

Would love to see Charles as AD someday. I remember he and Coach Majors appearing on some show shortly before Charles was to graduate. Johnny said "Charles will be successful no matter what he chooses to do in life because that is just the kind of person he is." No doubt.
