SCUTTLE: With David Johnson spearheading the efforts, Tennessee planted its flag in the Memphis area in 2020. They hope to do the same in 2021, even dipping across the border into Mississippi. Rangy wideout Isaiah Brevard is a top target for the Vols, as the 6-4 playmaker maintains regular contact with Tee Martin and David Johnson after receiving an offer in May.
Brevard named UGA his early leader, but Texas A&M, Alabama and Ole Miss are also factors. The Southhaven star has tripped to Tennessee once for a summer 7-on-7 tournament and plans on making his way to campus this summer for a true look at the school.
The Vols do have a tie-in with Brevard, as the junior is close with the Whitehaven trio — Bryson Eason, Martavius French and Tamarion McDonald. Brevard has heard some recruiting pitches from Eason, and said he knows Tennessee “has a great receiving core this year. They really building something. They’re trying to get the program to the top of the SEC.”
