If Tennessee is up by a good margin and Heupel
Has a chance for a fg, short or long, do you think he will give Gilbert a chance for gaining some confidence?

By asking this question, you are creating a problem that does not exist. Talk about the end of the world very much? Everybody goes through a slump no need to address it differently. It is all situational any way. 4 & 1 or 4 & 10, from the 35 or 25. Comfortable lead kick the FG. Missing the FGs against KY may not have been a slump it may have been a breakdown in the line or center. Main point id the problem and fix it.

Nothing about end of the world. If Tennessee is up a large margin and option is try a fg or just run the ball and either gain first down for more time to go off the clock or try a fg. Simple question. YOU just read more into it then there was.

I don't think he will play Gilbert any differently than he has been. He's already stated he has confidence in him. If he treats him differently now, that could potentially make Gilbert second guess himself even more than he already is.

We can end the discussion right here. He had one bad game.

The problem us, he needs to be able to kick them in high pressure situations.

While true, getting in game reps is the way through a slump. He needs to regain some confidence. And hopefully the score is wide enough in the 2nd half that we can give him a couple extra of in game opportunities.

I’m not sure I really get the question or why there needs to be a large margin to have a field goal try. If we bog down on the opening drive at 0-0 and have 4th and 6 on their 22, you cart him right out there for a 39 yarder and you don’t even hesitate.

Im Not saying don’t use him. I’m saying if let’s say we are up 28-30 points and it’s 4th quarter and it’s 4 and 2 at the 25. Go for it or give Gilbert an attempt. That’s all.
