Mt Juliet has gone to 4-0 with their 39-13 win over Lavergne tonight..With 30+ seniors and a great coach, still not a lot of folks talkin' about the Golden Bears..Could be the surprise team in 6A come playoff time...

Yeah we were 5A when I graduated in '99; had the third largest school in TN behind McGavock and some school in Memphis. Then in 2002 (I think it was), Wilson Central opened up in Wilson Co., dropping us to 4A. Over the past 12 years or so, the population of MJ has been steadily increasing (approx. 13-15K more since 1999), and with that have come the class jumps back up to 5A and now 6A.

That was one of the best games I've ever been to. Gallatin is for real this year. The MJ game in a few weeks is going to be epic, with both schools averaging in the 30-40 point range.

Shhhhh. Don't say anything. Those East Tenn boys will think we play football in this part of the state.

Back in the late 1970 and early 1980's, Mt. Juliet had a very good team, only to be beaten by the Green Wave. In fact, I remember being down to Mt. Juliet 21-0 at halftime and coming back to beat them on their home field.

Did you know that back then, only one team from each district made it into the playoffs. The rule was changed to include runner-up teams and even more because of what is called "The Mt. Juliet Rule". They complained that they had a championship caliber team but because Gallatin was so good and beat them every season, that they could not enjoy their season or make more gate money.

MJ has wins over Portland, Lavergne, Lebanon, McGavock, and Beech. Beech is the only team that will even sniff the playoffs, so the Bears are relatively untested. Gallatin has wins over Wilson Central, Springfield, Lebanon, Station Camp, Oakland, and Brentwood. 3-4 of those teams will make the playoffs. Btw, Gallatin did this with their backup Soph. QB, and 13 starters were suspended for the 1st two games.

What an huge win over Gallatin..52 points on the Green Wave is impressive..IMO Hendersonville is the only team left on their schedule with a chance to beat 'em..Anybody who gets a chance to go watch Mt Juliet play needs to..They just might have enough to win it all.

I spoke to my brother, who saw the game. He said that Mt. Juliet is very impressive and will be hard for anyone to stop.

Mt. Juliet beat Gallatin much worse than the final score indicated. MJ recovered an obvious fumble that the refs missed late in the second quarter. Three plays later Gallatin scored their first TD of the game before the half which made it 35 to 7. The remainder of Gallatin's points were in the late second half against MJ's back ups and after pooch kickoffs making a short field.

Total domination by MJHS like they've never done to Gallatin.

Tonight's games...

Mt. Juliet: 45
Station Camp: 7

Gallatin: 35
Hendersonville: 10

MJHS has Cookeville, Hendersonville and Wilson Central remaining on the schedule.
