I apologize to the mods if this is inappropriate to post a new thread.
Let the Tenn. fans know this:
Don't be surprised in the future if you see the Tenn. scouts travel to Mt. SAC more in the next couple of years.
I have gone to a handful of their practices this summer and I can tell you by observance, this team is on point in all positions.
Their defense is WOW. The D-line and secondaries are great. If at any position, their defensive backs/linebackers are so good, their 3rd stringers are doing hurt to the offense.
But no discredit to the offense.
They have three QB's right now who are all high-quality players ... I won't make mentions but one of them is going to a D-1 school for sure and totally ready to make noise wherever he goes.
Actually one of the coaches spoke to me and said there's about 14-15 players on the Mounties who are sure-shot D-1 level players.
You really can't say that Mt. SAC is well-known for players in a particular spot --- honestly, they are good in all areas. The D-line is always great (we pick up a good number of Samoans and Tongans) who I think are always tough, focused, monstrous but real real nice folks ... they are all unified with the same purpose ... and that's to kick butt.
We have some good receivers, one who is from Florida that is just sick, sick, sick. When the season comes closer I will reveal names ... but for the time being, I'll leave them nameless.
I'm going to talk with the football staff and tell them to utilize a way to get a live internet feed to the games ... so when you guys are watching Tenn. football on TV on the weekends, you could be sitting nearby your computer and checking out Mt. SAC football as well.
I think Sporting News has Mt. SAC ranked #4 or #5 in the country .... but many experts feel (jcsports.com people) that Mt. SAC should be about #2. (I have to research that I might be wrong)
Despite the many good players that they lost from last year's run at the state championship, it's very possible that this could be the year that they catch it.
But as you may have heard, Southern California football is good all over.
IF ... Nick Lamaison and Bruce Irvin are Volunteers ... and both provide good contribution to Tenn., then you know that the scouts will continue on to travel over to Southern California and look onto finding more talent.
However, I think that Mt. SAC has a number of good enough players that can surely compete in the D-1 level. Of course, I'm not ruling out players from other JC's but ... we'll just wait and see how everything plays out in the next couple of years.
For me, be mindful of Mt. SAC ... as opposed to other JC's that you hear about around the country. Their coaching staff is probably one of the nation's best and they're all professional, humble and good people to talk with.
