It is very sad indeed. She was a great player.

The Daily News Journal is still updating the story as more details become available, because this story just broke. We'll likely know more by tomorrow.

Very sad. I hope the day comes when stories like this are a thing of the past. People need to start valuing human life.

Horrible tragedy to hit our campus and the violence here has gotten way worse over the past two months. This however, is by far the worst yet. She was murdered by her own roommate of all things, 18 year old Freshman Shanterrica Madden. God knows what started the whole altercation. After reading about twenty articles from various websites and rumor mills, not to mention stalking her twitter, it seems there is one obvious rumor that the community here has settled on but who really knows...

What I do know is that she was charged with First Degree Murder and transferred to the Rutherford County Jail tonight. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family, teammates, and coaches. We may not be an athletic powerhouse here in Murfreesboro but we love and respect our athletes. My only happy thought in all of this is that the killer is in custody and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law hopefully.

I even heard that Ms. Madden was a Criminal Justice major... What's with the world these days?

anyway her name is Shanterrica Madden, you can go to twitter, find person, type her name in and read the junk filled page

her bio reads: I am a freshman at MTSU. I am a sweetheart to be around and I love my family and friends.

terribly sad news. first thing i heard when i woke up this morning. absolutely sickening. my prayers go out to her family and those close to her.

She's claiming that Tina Stewart pull the knife on her first and that she took it from her during a scuffle then used it in self defense. This is absurd to me for one big reason, in any self defense case when is it okay to stab someone "several" times in the chest?

This defense won't hold up.

Whoa. What a lame defense. Once or twice is self-defense. Several times is deliberate and malicious.

The Lady Raiders chose to go ahead and play in the Sun Belt tournament and will honor Tina with a patch that says "20GETHER", which will also have her number 20 on it.
