This will be the second game of the series with MTSU. The Vols traveled to Murfreesboro back on March 11 and came away with a 2-0 victory. Both runs were scored in the third inning off of MTSU starter, Nathan Foriest. The Vols stranded ten runners, but the UT pitching staff shutout MTSU. Owenby got the start, going 2 innings, giving up 1 hit, 1 walk and 2 K's. Lenstrohm would pick up the win, giving up 2 hits, 0 walks and 1K. Bettencourt, Peterson, Lee and Cox would all go an inning each combining for...2 hits, 0 runs, 3 BB's and 6 K's.

MTSU has two former Vols on the squad. Jr. LHP Brandon Zajac and Jared Allen. Zajac injured a knee and will miss the game. Allen is one of the best players on the MTSU team. He went 2 for 4 against us in the first game, he's batting .283.

MTSU - 22-22 (11-10), RPI 101, SOS 65, Away 6-13, Non Conf. 11-12

CDS has not announced a starter yet, hopefully he'll be on the radio today as is usual. To a degree, it doesn't matter who starts because we've pitched by "committee" in the mid week games thus far. I don't see that changing.

CDS did his weekly radio interview and did not name a starter for tomorrow. He's concerned about having the Thursday start for the UK series.

Personally, I'd like to see Dalton Saberhagen get a start, running out of chances to give him one.

Unfortunately, losing the mid week game hurts our RPI and winning it doesn't help all that much.

I'd like to see Dalton start, too. Such a great kid. He's only thrown 1.1 so far this year.

I suppose Owenby might get the start since he threw only 14 pitches on Sunday, and he probably doesn't factor heavily into this weekend's rotation.

I'm still wondering what the deal is with Grotz and Charpie (and status of Eric Martin's recovery) ... anyone know?

Grotz needs some work before we throw him out there. I have no clue about charpie.
