This is going to get even uglier. It is obvious that the protestors will not be satisfied until he is literally not in the country.

he's getting really bad advice. why publically admit you are basically going to make the VP a puppet president? why not lie and say you are stepping down?

Clinton needs to pull this guy aside and introduce him to the word IS.

Question for some of you. I know the protesters are supported by the islamic brotherhood. Is this whole thing an attempt by radical islam to take over? Or is it a rational request for him to leave.

the claim keeps being made that this revolt is secular in nature and that the Muslim Brotherhood has purged itself of extremist elements.

We'll see. It doesn't help that the MB has stated that war with Israel is coming.

I'm having a hard time believing the MB isn't trying to take over with this. A very hard time.

It doesn't quite seem that simple. The Muslim Brotherhood is involved but Mubarak keeps mentioning foreign influences and "international labor unions" (?) as being part of the unrest as well.

I would really like to know who leaked that he would be resigning before he gave his speech. I would also like to know if they are about to get what they wanted.

Edit:
Looks like things may be starting up:
March to palace being organized
Egypt presidential palace turned to a military base

Thanks for the answers, I know the Islamic Brotherhood had stated it wanted the peace deal with isreal recinded. That's what makes me uneasy about them.

Nobody knows for sure to answer your question. I have a hard time though thinking they are not behind the scene pulling some strings. The war statement is scary.

yes and no. I heard a guy who had written books about the MB say that there is an internal rift between the young and old. The old still run it for now but the younger group is pushing for changes that could be viewed as positive (by the US and Israel). He seemed to think (and I can agree) that once the old hard-liners are out there could be some real change.

you have a bunch of older people with govt jobs and pensions making good money and more young people essentially starving to death paying for those rich old people's jobs. hard to think there isn't going to be some civil unrest in a situation like that.

Looks like he's stepped down.....or maybe not.

He's left Cairo.

This is absolutely crazy.

Ok, so now they are saying he has again.

Good grief.

Mubarak finally looked outside his back door at the real world, got a glimpse of that 800lb. gorilla and received Enlightenment.
