Ole Miss is the ONLY team in the SEC West that Mullen has beaten..Hard to call them a "contender" when they don't size up in their own division..Thoughts?

vs LSU 0-3
vs 'Bama 0-2
vs Arkansas 0-2
vs Auburn 0-3
vs Ole Miss 2-0

He's at Miss State. There's only so high up they'll ever be in the pecking order. He can stay there as long as he wants beating Ole Miss and UGA.

its a tough division. they had auburn beat 2 years in a row.

anyway, he hasn't been there that long. in a couple years we can talk.

MSU was way overhyped based solely on their bowl win. The Chris Relf we saw in the AU and LSU games is the real Relf, as opposed to the Relf who dismantled Michigan.

Until Mullen gets a real QB in there to run that system, this is what you're going to get out of MSU.

he's still doing pretty well with what he's got. also losing their D coordinator hurt and they lost on a few good recruits.

Even with a real QB, MSU wasn't going to win last night. That playcalling was attrocious. It seemed like MSU's thought process was "Okay, we know LSU is tough to run at straight up. But we're going to do it anyway. 30+ times."

I think he is a real good coach, the team is ready to play. Last night would have been a much closer game if the QB would have ran when under pressure. Many times he could have gotten a 5-7 yard run and didn't do it.

Relf = Matt Simms with better speed. Most over hyped QB in the SEC. That being said, I still think Mullen screwed up putting that other Schmuck QB in when they were down two scores in the 4th qtr. Russell = Matt Simms with no arm and the same field vision.

The conference record doesn't show it, but they've certainly been more competitive the past two seasons.

They'll probably never be a perennial West contender, but if Mullen stays there long enough they'll eventually beat some of the West teams not named Ole Miss.

I kept looking for a inside screen pass , hell any screen pass to slow them down but it never materialized

Watched the game lastnight and kept asking how they were ever ranked? I mean the defense seems to be pretty decent, but that offense is horrible. The qb didn't look like he had a clue out there..could of ran some bootlegs, screens or something.. But the qb would go to take off down field and kept running straight into his linemen..

You'll never win in Starkville, Mississippi. Atleast I wont see it in my lifetime. IMO

Three years ago, I would have vehemetly disagree with you. Now...with the super conference on the way...I agree with you.
