Mullen it over - which 1-loss team has best shot at playoffs

Everyone has written Tennessee off 😏
NCAA - Notre Dame
SEC - Alabama

SEC East has 4 teams with one loss or fewer; SEC West has just 3.

If there are several teams with 2 losses at the end of the season, and choosing one of them would cause controversy, the easy way out is to choose the team with just one loss (TCU last year).

If Alabama has only one, which they won't, they may think Saban's last season let him slide in. May try it with 2, who knows.

Well I was wrong about Notre Dame.
SEC West down to 2 teams with 1 loss.
Big Ten West also has 2 teams with 1 loss.
I'll go with Alabama over Big Ten West.

Alabama is best shot of the 1-loss teams in the SEC

However, if you count all teams, Texas still has best shot of all the 1-loss teams. (I guess you could count Texas as an SEC team lol).

Interestingly, coaches poll has Alabama ahead of Texas. I am NOT sure why.

Because most of the current coaches don’t pay attention to, watch, or review the games of other teams they’re not going to be playing?

Ohio State or Michigan will have one loss at the end of the season. Hell they do almost every year. They will get in the playoffs then get bounced in the first round.

No one thinks Tennessee will be a 1 loss team and, frankly, they haven’t beat a good team all year. That could change Saturday thou.
Half the people on the board were saying the very same thing about SCe a couple of weeks ago. About half were convinced we were gonna lose big. Next week, if we win, it will be the same thing all over again. We still "haven't beat a good team all year" cause A&M would have 3 losses. It's just too much negative thinking.

No one with a reasonable mind will say A&M isn’t a good team. They have a lot of talent & coached by an excellent staff.

Texas A&M is significantly better than Carolina. It's extremely easy to see that.

You MISSED the point. The point is that if we BEAT A&M then the same people are going to say the say thing. It has NOTHING to do with who we play. The negas will still be here to point out how we're going to lose the next one.

Well in their defense, it is Alabama. I'd say our chances are pretty slim.

The only way anyone is getting in this year is to win the conference. This year only conference champs will make the playoff. It’ll be the SEC, Big 10, Pac 12 and either the ACC or Big 12 champions. No 1-loss non-championship teams will make it.

would take some odd things for it to occur. I can see a 12-0 Georgia losing to a 11-1 Alabama in the SECCG and getting in over a two loss B1G champion or one- or two- loss PAC12 Champion.

There is precedent for a one-loss team getting in over their own two-loss conference champion. Happened, I think, with OSU and Penn State years ago. So a 12-1 UGA could get in over an 11-2 Alabama SEC Champion. Happened to TCU last year and Georgia is far above TCU in standing.

I wouldn't bet money on it. It could be a situation where the playoff committee would not want to be the ones preventing a potential 3-peat with a vote.

Oh sure it’s possible. I think all 4 conference champs that make it will have 1 loss or less. I also believe we will see multiple undefeated teams.
