JACKSON, Miss. -- Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen called for disciplinary action against the Southeastern Conference replay official who worked the Bulldogs' 29-19 loss to Florida after a Gators touchdown that might have been a fumble was not overturned.

Mullen said Sunday it's understandable if a field official makes a mistake because of the speed of the game, but the replay official can take his time and should be held accountable.

"I don't even know why we have replay right now in the Southeastern Conference if they're not going to utilize it," Mullen said.

"That's twice now that they've blown calls on the replay with our games, resulting in big plays, and I think that's unexcusable for that official. I hope he's severely punished if he ever works another SEC game again, because I think it's completely unacceptable."

I thought the ball came out before he crossed the line. I also think it unlikely that MSU would have won the game if they'd been given the ball at their 20.

The ball did come out before the gl, and msu got shafted. Florida fans certainly have to realize they are not the number one team this year. Tebow winning the heisman this year will be nearly as big a farce as the Iranian elections this year.

whether or not MSU would've won if the right call was made is not of significant importance here. these calls tend to go to the higher ranked teams and it's a trend at this point.

I'm not yet buying into the "UF/UA gets better calls" paranoia, but you have to scratch your head and wonder why that call wasn't overturned. The evidence would seem to support that decision, and that's why IR was allowed into the game.

While we have certainly not played to potential all year, who else is really better. Bama didn't look very good against Tennessee this week. The only team that I think could argue they should be #1 is Texas and they struggled in most games, except for this recent week.

I think this year there are very few great teams and no one is playing like a number 1 team. However, our problems, turnovers and redzone offense, can be fixed pretty easily and I think we will be playing closer to our potential by the time the SEC CG comes.

They won't be #1 in the final polls and Colt McCoy will win the Heisman. If Tebow wins it will be even more pointless of an award than before.

We call that a fumble. And to those espousing that MSU still would have lost the game I'd like to ask how you know this. It was ridiculous how fast this play was reviewed and confirmed.

This season is another shining example of why a football playoff is needed.

What you think the outcome of the game would have been is totally irrelevant.
