Had 9 “goal to go” play calls ( got a face mask penalty to give them a first down) last night vs Ky on the last drive. Didn’t come close to getting a TD. Not sure they ever broke the 5 yd line. Ky def was tough but none of the play calls looked any different that plays they’d ran all day.

Absolutely agree

Playcalling purpose is put your players in best chance for them to succeed and give your team a chance to win

It was like they didn't even try to get td.
Or the arrogance in thinking his players were just gonna walk over kensucky bc they have gators on the helmet.

He called plays like he was winning or at the very least on the last drive they seemed to be playing for overtime. They drained the clock down to a minute and suddenly had to use timeouts that didn't need to be wasted. Then they were afraid to take a shot because Emory struggled.

It was baffling levels of incompetence displayed in the 4th q by Mullen. They ended up using 10 minutes to get one score while down 10.

Just like the running back in the last Boy Scout. Maybe Mullen got a call at halftime.

I doubt it was the play calls. Jones on two of the downs took the safe, but unproductive options, rather than make the score.

He freezes up. As I've said before, it's why as a 5 star he rode the bench until now. He plays ok, he's above average to good. But when push comes to shove, he thinks too much and too slowly.

Couple weeks ago he was a genius vs Bama, and Leach was an idiot vs LSU. Funny how one game shifts opinions.

Jones was a 4*, not a 5*. He was Mullen’s highest rated QB recruit as a head coach.

Jones is also Franks v2.0. He has better mobility, but the same inability to process information quickly.

I watched the replay of the whole game last night. Honestly, I think Florida was the better team. If Kentucky doesn't get a special teams TD, it's a whole different ballgame. Florida's problem, at least to me, was the same as Tennessee's in the swamp. First game on the road, and in a hostile environment. If Florida didn't have (what...14 penalties).. all those false starts... I think they would have won. That's part of the game. Getting the snap right in a loud stadium isn't easy. Might be easier towards the end of the season once the team has been exposed to it a few times.

Another observation - Kentucky's OL and DL looked pretty stout. I think Kentucky won the line of scrimmage. Not so good on passing plays.
Florida, like us in the Pitt game... statistically, you shouldn't be in a position to win in the final 2 minutes if you have somewhere around 15 penalties and a couple of turnovers, yet it happened. And like in the Pitt game for us, Florida didn't prevail. And as Neyland wisely said - the team with the fewest mistakes wins.

My mistake, I thought he was a 5. Otherwise agree.
