The same goes for failing socialism and free health care.

On another site I referenced a speech by Teddy Roosevelt +/- 100 years ago. In it he warned of the dangers to our society of the "hyphenated American" (Italian-American, Irish-American, African-American, etc.) beleiving it would fracture/destroy said society if left unchecked. I have no problem with one celebrating their cultural identity but like Teddy believe there should be an American identity that supercedes others. I'm not English-American, I'm American (Tennessean by the grace of God).

Lived in Germany close to half my life. There is saying, and then there is doing. Multiculturalism is a nice idea until they move in next door. They are set in their ways from centuries of culture. Hard to change that overnight.

Been meaning to ask you -- what was your own experience with the universal health care over there? (Or was your care always U.S. military?)

Multiculturalism and diversity can be great for a country.

But that's assuming there's unity along with that. I don't have a problem with having a diverse country, I'd hate for the United States to be a large collection of separate groups speaking separate languages and not having anything to do with each other. I agree with Frau Merkel on this.

Multicultuarlism can be a really good thing as long as the people that immigrate are loyal to America or where ever they moved to.

Slightly in places like LA and south Texas as I whole I don't really see it. People will always naturally gravitate toward people of their own kind, that is just human nature. I do see fracturing due to politics and religion though.
