Muschamp heading to Auburn

I saw that. WTF!? So much for going for an offensive-minded coach. lol

And if I were Auburn, I would want some kind of wording in the contract that if he leaves for Texas, he owes AU $15 billion.

Sexton is having a very very Merry Christmas. I had heard Auburn had a smoke screen going along with the real search, but the last I heard was that Jimbo and Muschamp weren't interested. Rumors are that they really wanted Jimbo, but that it looked like Gill was going to get it by default.

Oh, and the BCA is going to have a field day after these recent hires.

Funniest minor part:

The girl (Akeem's Girls) is walking up on stage and the Preacher says, "Mmmmm girl you so good if you's on a plate I'd sop you up wit a biscuit!"

And how Randy Watson leave the stage is hilarious. "SEXUAL CHOCOLATE!!!!" Then he drops the mic and does the point, exit stage right.

Ohhh hell I'm going to quit.

So, Will Muschamp.

I thought that Will was the "head coach in waiting" at Texas and got a raise to 900 grand for his loyalty. Is he now ready to throw all that in the crapper? Does the "head coach in waiting" tag have a buyout?

I heard that Will could be heading back this morning as well.

They must be prepared to shell out some cash because Muschamp told them earlier in the week he wasn't interested. I would guess this will be at least 2.8 - 3 million range.

Bad move for Will imo. the tornado swarming in North Alabama is going to gain speed and to think Saban doesnt even have four years of recruiting under him yet.

Will should have probably stayed in Texas. But, nothing is in stone yet.

This is a bad move by Muschamp. I would much rather be the next head coach at Texas than coach the second most popular team in Alabama.

Mack probably isn't retiring any time soon. if he does well at auburn he can get the texas job when mack retires anyway.

But please explain to me how this is an upgrade over tuberville.

I was a big fan of Muschamp before we got Kiffin but now I am happy with MH's selection. I wonder what Tubbs will do next?

Muschamp would not be an upgrade. Most Auburn fans are pissed: Tubberville is gone because of trustee politics and a vendetta held by a big money booster.

I only think Muschamp stays at Texas if he has a gentleman's agreement with Mack that Mack is going to step down in 3 years or less. Anything over that is just too long to wait... and you never know, Muschamp's stock could drop over that time. If he can make 2.5+ mil now, he should take the money.

Will Muschamp will not the be the next coach at Auburn: I just got off the phone with Will Muschamp, the defensive coordinator and head coach in waiting at Texas. He emphatically shot down television reports in Mobile that he would be the named the next coach at Auburn today.

“I have not talked to Auburn about this job and I have no interest in the job,” said Muschamp. “I really don’t know what else to say. I’m going to stay at Texas until they fire me.”

My sources tell me that some Board of Trustee members did pick up the phone and call Muschamp to find out if he was interested. But those sources also tell me that when Muschamp was at Auburn as DC, he and athletics director Jay Jacobs did not part on the best of terms.

That's an understatement.
