Quick question, will M audio fast track interface work okay with some rokit speakers? I got them hooked up directly to the computer using RCA cables, they sound good but I know they are more powerful than this

Your KRKs are powered, right? What kind of audio interface and sound card are you using?

KRKs are powered and no audio interface yet, that's why I was curious about the M audio Fast Track

I think you need an audio interface and run 1/4 inch or SLRs to the speakers. Talk to the guys at Guitar Center in the Pro Audio department. If you haven't seen it, check out the Propellerhead Balance with Reason bundle. It's the best deal going for an affordable home studio and has the capabilities of what would have cost $10,000 or more for around $500.

Propellerhead - Balance - What is Balance?

You can upgrade to the full Reason software for $300, I believe -- full studio capabilities with rack effects including Line 6 guitar and bass processors, synths, drum machines (including Thor), unlimited number of track editing with MIDI, and a great mixer with full bus, EQ, etc for under a grand. It's an absolute no-brainer for a home studio.

Very cool, thanks. I'll look into it. Reason has been a favorite for some friends of mine but I never was too interested.

Like I said the KRKs hum and sound good, but I'm sure that an interface would bring out the full potential. Thanks for the help

Do you use this, and if so are using a Mac or PC?

So are you just looking to add more gain(power) to the signal from the computer to the speakers?

Or are you actually planning to do some recording/sequencing as well?

No recording, and yes I'm pretty much trying to get the KRKs to go full potential. And I'm wondering if an interface would do that.

Yes, PC. It's an awesome setup...can be used for simple recording, sequencing, processing, but the capabilities of Reason are incredible. I feel like I've only scratched the surface. There is a vast array of online tutorial videos.

I'll tell you that my Mackie studios run through the Balance interface sound as pure as anything I've ever heard.
