did we offer to cody pope?? I didnt think we offered him a scholly? Also what do you think about calhoun? you think he walks away to OM or stay in state and goes to UT? from what i heard he loved his visit to ut..
also I think we will get Warren but eh I am not sold on it yet..
Yeah, we already offered Pope. He had committed to Washington last weekend after visiting them but is now calling them to say thanks....but no thanks. He's definitely coming to UT. I think Calhoun is a potential game breaker. He's extremely fast, tall, athletic, and plays hard. He will also go after the ball rather than expect it to be a perfect pass everytime. I think he's the type of guy we have to get in order to boost our offense. Even though he's slightly faster than Brent Vinson, I look at them about the same as far as what kind of player they are. There are some small questions about Vinson qualifying, so I think that makes Calhoun a guy that we need to get. I hope we get him and Vinson also qualifies, but Calhoun would insure that we have a speed guy next season. I just don't know what to think about Calhoun right now as far as where he's going. There are two scenarios in my mind:
1. Vinson is still visiting VT, and we got a commit from Hancock. We originally wanted to take only two recievers, but now want all three of Vinson, Calhoun, and Hancock. If we had both Hancock and Calhoun publically commit this weekend, that might make Vinson look harder at VT and second-guess his decision on UT. So, I think it's possible that Calhoun committed to UT this weekend and the coaches told him to keep it quiet so Vinson wouldn't turn us away. I also can see the coaches telling him to talk up Ole Miss, because Orgeron has been talking trash to recruits about UT. This would leave Ole Miss crying at the alter after thinking they would get him, which I'm sure Fulmer wouldn't mind since he obviously does not like the Ogre.
2. Calhoun is more comfortable with the players at Ole Miss but sees UT as a better opportunity. He has not made up his mind.
I think those are the two likely scenarios. I seriously didn't think we'd lose him to Ole Miss, but it sounds like he really liked his visit there.......but I'm hoping it's just a smoke screen.
