I don’t understand how they were gone so quickly. I had season tickets already and when I got called to renew them in September, I was told existing season ticket holders were being offered tickets first. Yet, I was only given the option of purchasing one “level” of seats. There were only 1000 season tickets last year so if we all bought 2, that’s only 500 people max for them to reach out to. I must’ve been #500 on their call list to only have one purchase option. How do you get MVP seats? I was on the waiting list weeks before tickets went on sale.
Just out of curiosity, were are your seats located and how many years have you been getting season tickets? There was a cap on season tickets sold last year because of Covid. We were all spread out- no one was immediately above, below or to our sides. Most everyone was displaced from their usual seating location. IIRC, at the beginning of the season there were no single game tickets available.I don’t understand how they were gone so quickly. That’s my point, I was one of those limited season ticket holders last year and was given the option of buying worse seats than I had last year for 2x the money. I expected tickets to go up and was fine with paying more (although gas prices now and 4 hr drive has me rethinking that philosophy) but not for what I would consider worse seats. There was a cap on season tickets sold last year because of Covid. I’m waiting with anticipation to see the crowds this season, considering season tickets sold out and the only single game tickets available are in the bleachers.
I’m in E, row 12 I believe; 3rd base line. I was given the option of A or E (same seats just opposite side of the field). This is only my 2nd year with baseball season tickets and have had football tickets for 5-6 years. I’m no big donor by any means but at least had a record of tickets/donations going into this year. The guy who called me admitted he had been working for like 2 weeks so I’m not convinced he knew what he was doing. He couldn’t explain to me how every other section was gone when only last years season ticket holders had been given the opportunity to purchase, up to that point.Just out of curiosity, were are your seats located and how many years have you been getting season tickets? I’m sorry I didn’t get what you were saying at first. I’m also sorry you didn’t get the location you wanted this year. That’s my point, I was one of those limited season ticket holders last year and was given the option of buying worse seats than I had last year for 2x the money. I believe your last statement. I work with a lot of State grads and I’ve been told (prior to last year’s success) that there has been an X years waiting list for season tickets and to be on the list you have to continue to donate. I believe I was told the number was in the neighborhood of $2000 just for the opportunity to purchase, once a set becomes available. I’m not sure how true it is but I’ve heard it several times from some guys who follow the baseball program fervently so I’m inclined to trust what they’re saying.I’m sorry I didn’t get what you were saying at first. I’m guessing last season’s bandwagon is still growing this year. It cuts both ways- revenue is growing for the program as first time ticket buyers are buying, but they are competing with the regulars, and both are competing with people who are primarily buying tickets to resell.
I get that there is a finite number of padded MVP seats to sell. However, I would think there would be a lot more season tickets to sell.
There could be an artificial cap on the number of season tickets to help drive single game ticket sales because overall there’s potentially more revenue selling a seat one game at a time (particularly when it comes to SEC games) than selling it to a season ticket holder.
FWIW, Mississippi State claims they sold over 13K season tickets.
