Some of you are complaining about us only having one commit for the 2010 class, while others have 9/10 already, and while it's an understandable complaint, I'd like you to consider this thought. Most of the recruits don't know what to think about UT as our new staff hasn't coached a game; they don't have anything to base their decision off of. Compare this to marrying a girl without ever seeing her first ala King Henry VIII and whichever wife that was. Now that's not to say their not interested, you'll see that most of the top 250 are, they just can't make such an important decision without some proof, anything, to hint that they're making the right choice.

So here's what needs to happen. Kiffin and co. need to get the ball moving this fall. Any sign of progress will show recruits what we'll offer, and many commits will follow. As long as we show improvement and some signs of greatness to come, our recruiting OL/DL woes will be over. So let's hold off judgement on these 2010 guys until they get to see what we have to offer. Just put yourself in their shoes.

I think we see alot of commits during summer camps. I think once they see the intensity of this staff they will line up to play. Play well in the fall and it will only lead to more commits.

I think they will watch guys on the field this year before they put on the full court press.

That and perhaps CLK is telling the kids not to commit anywhere until they take their official visits, make sure they want to play here and then commit. Early commits at leas tthis early are almost worthless anyway unless you are absolutely positively certain this is where you want to go.

I did not read Meat Market, so what does Ogerons book say about early commits?

He still evaluates early commitments. There are several he considered pulling scholarships from, and he had an accurate gut feeling about whether the kid would actually end up signing or going elsewhere.
