He , being a 24 fan , as I am, went to Bristol on a Wednesday, camper in tow (bathroom, kitchen, etc.), got to meet several guys but one in particular was Ernie. He was a cut up. My b-in-l would send me pictures. At one point Ernie had a orange cone on his head. Plus my b-in-l got a good picture of them together as well. Thats who we pulled for until he could never race again, then we switched over to JG.

i take it your brother went to Food City Family Race Night?

I haven't been there in years, but I've met all sorts of drivers there.

good ole Swervin Irwin. i always thought he was a pretty good guy.

I met Irvan before he got into NASCAR when he ran late models on dirt. I didn't like the way he left the 4 car team. At Bristol he deliberately crashed the car after driving it below it's potential cause he wanted to be released to go to Yates.

was the 4 team Morgan-McClure at the time he was racing for them?

Yes, he won their first race, and was replaced by Sterling Marlin. I saw Sterling at the Wal-mart in Bristol Thursday, he was signing autographs.

sterling's bush car at bristol in 99 (i think) was the best looking car in nascar history imo.

oh yeah!! didn't he get in trouble for that paint scheme or something?

There was some criticism for UT to spend money for sponsorship, which died when it was announced Sterling did it for no charge. He ran the car at Nashville, and I believe at Kentucky in addition to Bristol.

Bristol was the first place he ran it, my post did seem to dispute that, sorry.
