Do away with the conference championship games, no win and your ins

Expand the playoffs to 24 teams since they rank top 25

Begin playoffs as soon as regular season ends beginning when conference championship games occur

More home game opportunities for fans.

More $ for the teams / revenue sharing opportunities

More TV $

Less complaints about some teams not playing anyone good/ranked as they would be challenged more in the playoffs.

They will never abolish the conference championship games. Too much money. You should know by now that that is what this is all about. Money.

I know it won't happen because of money, but that doesn't mean it's a bad idea. I say separate from the NCAA. Make 8 conferences. Top 4 go to a 32 team playoff bracket starting on Conference Championship week. No Conference Championship games. No byes.

The automatic bye’s for conference champions are somewhat stupid. BSU could get an automatic bye, which is dumb IMO.

Give automatic bye’s to the top 4 teams, I don’t care if they are all SEC or all BIG10 or whatever. Then make conference champions auto qualifiers, then fill in the rest of the field with rankings and reserve a spot for G5.

If you do away with automatic bids for conferences, then you might as well do away with conferences. I think championships matter and blocking smaller conferences from competing prevents them from becoming competitive. I like the auto-bids. The whole purpose that was justified besides money was to ensure a team that was left out of the playoffs like Florida State last year didn't happen again. The truth is, UT by traditional standards doesn't deserve to have a chance at the National Title. If any two loss team is complaining about being left out of the playoffs, there really isn't a legitimate complaint in my eyes; They would have never had a chance to win the title in the past regardless. I'm happy with the current format. We lost two games. If we wanted to be higher seeded, we should have beat Georgia and/or Arkansas.

Over the last year or so, I've read several articles that lead me to believe that eliminating conference championship games isn't as unlikely as some think. You've got coaches openly speaking about the disadvantages of making it to the conference championship game.

I think you have to abolish conference title games and expand to 16 teams. No more byes. Power 4 (SEC, ACC, BIG 10, BIG 12) regular season conference champs get an auto-bid, as does the highest-ranked non-power 4 conference champion. Then, those 5 teams + the next 11 highest-ranked teams are in. The first two rounds are home games for the higher seeds, then you move to neutral sites for the final 4.

The National Championship game will feature teams that will have played 16 games. Under the current format, it is possible that teams still play that many, so it's not like you're extending the season by several weeks.

Im OK with the 5 highest conference champions getting an auto bid.

I think 4 of them getting an auto bye is stupid...

Oregon potentially not getting a bye but Clemson or Iowa State potentially getting one is stupid...

Just get rid of the auto bye for the top 4 conference champs, that solves all of this. Top 5 conference champs get a bid, and just rank everyone like you would've previously.

Conferences will not do away with championship games....too much money involved.

No teams ranked that low deserve a spot playing for the title. wasting everybody's time.

16 team playoff. no bye weeks. conference champ gets auto bid but you play where your ranking lands. (i'm not against no auto bids but think they are more likely to keep them)

I’ve heard a scenario where Conference title games are replaced with play in games . I think that has potential to be more entertaining than title games .

No Conference game, Use the bowl system for the play-off provided neither of the teams are from the state. Everybody travels. AND EVERY body makes MONEY!!!!!!!!! LEVEL playing field!!!!!

An issue and it's going to be one with all the difference conference is there's no real balance scheduling

They're only testing the waters with an innugral 12 game playoff.
Heck, the NCAA basketball tournament once had 16 teams. Look at it today. 68 teams.
We have around 40 bowls now.
You know this will grow.

Disagree wholeheartedly. The only thing I'd change is not giving the G5 champ a 1st round bye. We can't just change rules every year on a whim to what suits our team that year. We'd be a proponent for conference championships if we played in it this year and won.

Maybe we can go back to 8 team conferences and play in these games called bowls. Then we can lock conferences in to play in particular bowls and spend the rest of the year arguing about a split national championship. I miss that! The playoffs and people talking about expanding the playoffs is just silly to me. I don't want to see the 7th place SEC team in the playoffs. Texas and Georgia separated themselves from the rest of the pack. There is nothing wrong with acknowledging that.
