To put in context: Sunday morning, 10:20 central time. Just woke up. Decided to push home last night instead of hanging around Knoxville. Good decision. Wide awake, roads empty, son conked out on back seat. Home a little after 2:30 am. Haven't read VolNation yet, but looking for the reaction. Mods, this might need a merge.
It's Obvious Danny White has not only done a great job, but he was in full FLEX mode last not. Trotting out team after team sporting their SEC championship trophies there in the North End zone. Baseball, soccer, basketball, swimming. Message: Tennessee supports their student athletes and their fans.
So when the basketball team was announced, and they were holding their huge SEC championship trophy, on the way out, they took a detour towards the swath of blue in the Northeast corner. I saw much celebration and waving the trophy around in the air. Message: Kentucky, hit us with your best shot, we are dominating now. I actually felt a little sad for those in Blue that took the time and expense to get their nose rubbed in it like last night. I know some of you will say (expletive deleted) Kentucky, but I think you just can't suddenly wake up and recover from Battered Vol Syndrome overnight. The Vols have spent their time in the wilderness, and seeing those fans in blue with their little hearts breaking... having been on the receiving end of that (and I live in Alabama, so connect those dots), well, kinda sucks for them.
The message was loud and clear. Tennessee orange is now the coolest kid on the block again. Not just in football. Kentucky now knows that. GBO
