1) Tennessee just lost to a team with a roster full of high school All-Americans with a coach that's 13-0 in this tournament. That's nothing to be ashamed of.
2) McRae and Tatum are the perimeters players Tennessee needs, but shot selection is key for both. A lot will cry about the officials, but these two hurt just as bad with poor decisions on shots.
3) Ryan Kelly won't get a lot of praise, but he's solid glue guy for Duke's squad. His experience and high basketball IQ should come in handy for March.
4) Tennessee can't get down on tonight's game. They'll have another top 10 team bright and early tomorrow morning. That's a real winnable game.
5) I'm not calling Austin Rivers a bust, but comparing him to Irving at this point is silly. Austin needs to cool down on the circus stuff.
6) I'm obviously not one to knock a coach with 905 wins, but why does Miles Plumlee get any playing time at all. I would rather play Mason for 40 minutes. Other than being strong, he brings nothing.
7) This may sound stupid, but Trae Golden impressed me more tonight than any other game this season. He was out of sync with the fouls and his post players didn't pick him up on some great passes. He showed some leadership.
Overall, I think Tennessee has some room for optimism, but still a ton of improvement needed. The Martin hire keeps looking better as each game passes. The Vols showed great effort.
