My heart hurts

Worst injury I ever saw live at Neyland was Inky Johnson. That was so sad.
I had to listen to that one on the radio, since it was pre-every game is televised era.

They were silent for 10 minutes or so. Stadium was silent, announcers were silent.. I was wondering if he had died on the field. When I found out he really almost did, I couldnā€™t believe it. I thought those were stories your grandpa told about ā€œreal footballā€ in the 1930ā€™s, and that itā€™d never happen now. I was really young too, 12 or 13. It had a profound effect on me. made me realize youā€™re not immortal when youā€™re young, even playing a game.

Perspective is a lot. It was a bad injury. When I saw it live I thought I saw his facemask get jerked and then saw him not moving. I was worried he had a c spine injury. A repairable fracture dislocation of the ankle is favorable by comparison. Glass half full I guess?

Same. I thought paralysis was a real possibility. I hate that heā€™s dealing with a possible career ending injury, but I was almost in tears sitting in Neyland, without the benefit of replay, thinking he might never walk again. The reaction of the trainers and players had me really worried this was a serious spinal injury.

I was there too. I donā€™t recall it being a gruesome hit or anything. I was shocked to learn more about the injury in the following days.

I was there for Bru too. I have not watched the replay so I didnā€™t immediately realize the severity of it from the stands. It was the speed at which they called the cart to the field that you knew it was bad.

I hope he has a full recovery. I will always have the memory of him on the field after the Bama game.

It was amazing how the crowd reacted. It absolutely killed the mood in Neyland. I actually got worried it might change the outcome of the game because the crowd noise had already caused multiple unforced errors by that point. We were all just devastated.

I am glad he left the field with the crowd yelling Bruuuuuuu! If you have to go out at least you would always have that memory of 100k yelling your name.

I've seen the Hayden, Inky, Hunter, Hooker, McCoy, and the lineman that Georgia took out on a dirty play injuries in person.
