Jawaun James has committed to Bama...unless you put him in because you think we can get him to switch.

Lamaison would be considered '09 class, I believe. That would still leave 2 prospects that wouldn't be able to qualify cause you'd still have 27 listed. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you can only sign 25. Other than that solid. I just don't think we end up with that strong a WR group.

I thought you could sign 28.

I thought you could sign 28.

Someone that knows more about it should explain it better, but what I understand is you can accept 28 commits but can only sign 25 for the class. The reason you can accept 28 is that most of the time a few commits won't qualify. I don't understand it fully, hope someone explains it better.

If you look at matts he only has 25 so I'm going to have to make another quick switch. I have been under the impression you could sign 28.

The cap is at 28. Not sure where you're getting 25 from.

Lamaison shouldn't even be on that list. I don't know why people keep trying to add him to next year's class.

Just searched it, says you can sign 28 players, but the NCAA only allows 25 to enroll annually.

Oh, right. That 25 cap. My mistake. We should have about 6 or so early enrollees this year so that won't be an issue. Also some are almost always not going to qualify. Your class is 28 recruits though no matter how they get here.

So as long as you have 3 enroll early, you could have 0 academic casualties and sign a complete class of 28 every year?

Not necessarily. If you don't have any room in the previous class, you can't count your early enrollees to the previous class. In other words, if we sign 28 and 3 can count toward last year's class and every player qualifies, then the next year we can't backcount anyone. They can still enroll early, but they would count towards that year's class. Now, if we backcount 3, sign 28 but 2 don't make it academically, then we can still count 2 in the next class toward the previous class' numbers which would allow us to sign 27. You'd still probably sign 28 if you could though since not everyone is likely to qualify and the cycle continues. Hope that makes sense.

A way to look at it is you can always fill up your maximum 25 for each year, because if one year you only get 23, you could get 27 commits the next year and have two enroll early, thus going 25 and 25 for the last two years.
