My, my, has the mood changed so quickly.

People that stay positive after a loss are clueless. After a loss, it's ok to get pissed, throw things, and rant on VN. And after a win, you go back to the positive vibes. This is what 90% of us do.

There's a difference in venting and throwing players and coaches you just priased 2 weeks ago under the bus.

They deserve praise when they do praise worthy things. They deserve criticism when they flat stink up the field like they did at MU.

I think we will see the benefits of better coaching show up more next year. But, as my original post stated, that might be overly optimistic depending on our competition. Our roster will be better, but young.

Gotcha. I agree that our roster will be better. Unfortunately, our schedule is always tough.

2 weeks ago everything was all daisies and roses after an upset of SCjr. Now we're back to "OL sucks" and "Lane > Neal" and who could forget "bad playcalling that's predictable" (forgetting that Dobbs is in there).

Go Volnation.

Nice observation, Freud.

People are happy when things are going well, and pissed when they aren't?

You should write a book on that one.

IMHO, there needs to be changes in the OL. Bullard is the guy I see getting beat the most and unfortunately James. None of them show much "nasty" except maybe Fulton. Do they "suck"? No. They have talent... they just aren't applying it. When I have people like that... They either get going or get gone.

Allowing guys who aren't performing to go on and on is a disease you never want infecting your team. It kills morale and in the end benefits no one concerned.

I don't think the OC called a bad game. I am not angry that Dobbs made mistakes even though you could say they contributed greatly to the loss. He was also about the only bright spot on O. The OL played poorly IMO... that is well under their ability. ALOT of standing around. For once, I'd like to see one of them get flagged for blocking after the whistle.

I am VERY disappointed and disillusioned by the performance of the D and D coaches. Mizzou has played a WEAK schedule. They had their 2nd highest rushing total vs UT... basically on one, very simple play... a sweep usually to the left. Nothing tricky. Just guys consistently leaving cut back lanes, over running the play, or getting pushed 6-8 yards downfield before making a tackle.

That isn't a speed problem. It is a problem of coaching and player discipline.... and toughness. The MU's SLOW OL just flat out toughed UT's front 7.

This post is spot on.

In other words, everything is normal around here.

The mood changed when team effort and motivation changed. Hard to expect the fanbase to be all fired up when the team isn't. If they aren't excited to play, fans certainly won't be excited to watch.

Our team does not match up well with good offensive teams like Auburn. I suspect we will be beaten handily this weekend.

HOWEVER, it will not be an indictment on the coaching staff. If you look at our record versus what the experts have predicted in Vegas, we have overachieved. That's right, we have won every game in which we've been favored, and then one other in which we were underdogs. We have been significant underdogs in every game we have lost (but, hey, what do those people in Vegas know, right--they only have millions of dollars at stake on their point spreads.).

I will not judge this staff one way or the other until we get into next season. They have not yet had the time to put out the dumpster fire they inherited. And, they won't have time to do so until they have a couple of their own recruiting classes in the fold. Even then, I could see us winning 7 to 8 games next year. But, that might prove to be overly optimistic depending on the strength of the teams we play.

You do know how point spreads work, don't you? Those 28 point spreads against Oregon & Bama (just like ALL point spreads) are set to have the same amount of money bet on both sides. Getting beat by more than the point spread isn't a positive thing. EVER!

Also, UT didn't cover against S. Alabama.

You make an excellent point. Come to think of it why were we so dissapointed and frustrated before reading your thread? Oh Ya... Because we were destroyed and humiliated the last 2 weeks. Our fan base(or any other really) will always react this way. But if the point you're attempting to make is some have overreacted... You're right about that

Overreaction is the nature of the beast around here. There is no middle ground tolerated whether we win or lose.

Going in 6 and 6 and that's what we will get, what does people expect this is the SEC not the little 10.

I can't believe that anyone is disappointed in this season. We are playing with Dooley's players. I think we're in for quite an upgrade next year.

After 5 losing seasons out of 6, I thought for sure our fan base would have realistic expectations by now.

Stupid me.

We will play auburn very close, or win. No blow out. This team is totally different at home. Its expected with a new coach and youth at the skill positions.
