-when you shoot 61% from the field and 58% from 3 you would expect to win by a wide margin. Good news we shot well, bad news we didn't win by a wide margin.

-There is absolutely no excuse for this team to get out rebounded, much less by Kennessaw State...31-29 Owls advantage

- You can't expect us to have 24 assists to 8 turnovers like we did in our exhibition, but you would like it to be a bit better than 17 to 13 like it was tonight.

- just an observation, but if i see Kenny F up a free throw box out again I might smash my tv.

- trae played a game much like I've said would be adequate for him...8pts 6ast 1to...didn't shoot well, but played a good all around game I thought.

- a bit surprised to see Jarnell play 34 minutes, kudos to Nicodemus because Jarnell didn't seem winded...if we can get 32 minutes a night from him that'll be big while Maymon is out.

- speaking of Jarnell... 10pts 5rbd 5ast 2to 5stl 3blk...stat sheet stuffer right there. 2 things, one negative one positive...the positive, he shot a great percentage 5/7 from the field, however he has to get more than 7 shots, I said the other day 15-18 and I still think that's realistic with Maymon out. The negative...rebounding, only 5 boards in 34 minutes. If Jarnell wants to earn a 1st round grade he's gonna have to start pulling down boards more consistently.

-skylar Mcbee, kudos to him, he did exactly what I've been asking all year, be that lights out shooter that makes defenses pay for double teams or cheating...4/7 from 3 is just what the doctor ordered.

-if I can clone a McRae performance, and use it every night, tonight's would be a contender. 22min 14pts 2rbd 2ast 2to on 5/7 from the field and 3/3 from deep...we need Jordan to provide that spark off the bench and he did a great job of that tonight.

-oh kenny...what's frustrating us you can see the flashes, but he just does some of the absolute stupidest things. 13pts 6rbd 5/6 is great, the 0ast 2to not so great

That's all for this'n GBO!!!

One other thing. I was very pleased with Moore's performance. He is very smooth around the rim. I also think he will be able to withstand defensive pressure better than Washpun did as a freshman last year.

C'mon folks. he played a lot of guys to determine what they need to work on as well as what they do best. They won without any worries. There's work to do and now they can make more progress. It also points out just how much they need Maymon. This time without him will be a blessing in disguise in growing some guys up.

I'm very excited for Moore...the handle is a bit shaky, but he's big enough to shield the ball well...going to the rim he's special.

Just by tonight, Maymon is the X factor for sure!! Guys will get better because he's out and that should help later on!!

I have more confidence in CCM fixing this problem than I do Dooley fixing the Defensive football squad.

On Stokes
"The negative...rebounding, only 5 boards in 34 minutes. If Jarnell wants to earn a 1st round grade he's gonna have to start pulling down boards more consistently."

Missed most of the second half, but did he only have one board in the 2nd half?
He needs to be top five in the league type of guy for us.

I believe so...that's been one of the things I've said for awhile, his rebounding has to improve if he wants a 1st round grade. Going for 15/5 with his size is gonna raise questions, and not his stock.

He really needs to show a committed effort to going after every rebounding, one of my biggest complaints about him.

They were very physical in putting several bodies on him in the second half. They really keyed in on him. When there isn't another rebounding presence to put a body on, I see that happening. We just got out hustled and outworked. Stokes only got 5 boards but you could clearly see he battled all night. When we get guys like Kenny really hustling for rebounds, Stokes and a lot of other guys will grab more boards. Kenny seemed to get 6 boards by default tonight.

We should not get out rebounded by any team, never mind Kennesaw State...there were definitely more rebounds to be had.

Absolutely correct. I don't know it was really more of a blowout win than just a 9 pt. win. Vols up 61-34 and went into cruise control which is unacceptable but they won. I watched Alabama barely eke by S.Dakota St and came away thinking that Kennesaw St. was better than S.Dakota St.

No team in the league can use a guy with his size and skill set if he can't rebound.

Didn't get to see the game, but didn't Stokes only get something like 6 or 7 shots? Imo, he has to get more looks than that. Looks like he passed a lot with the assists so hard to complain too much I suppose.

He was 5/7 from the field, so he obviously shot great...but yes he needs more shots. I said the other day 15-18 shots for stokes while Maymon is out, and I still think that's a reasonable number.

He's very unselfish is the problem, they doubled him every time and he always looked to pass out of it. One time he dribbled away from it, and when the helper retreated he drove to the hoop for the basket...he needs to do that more often. I'd also like to see him face up from about 15-18 feet and go one on one more, I didn't see that at all last night, he has a good shot and is good facing up.

South Dakota State returns four starters from a team that gave Baylor all it could handle in the first round of the tournament last season, including NBA prospect Nate Wolters. They're a LOT better than Kennesaw State.
