Oh I didn't know that(Sorry,Boston!). Texas A&M vs Texas might be a very good Sugar Bowl matchup

Except wouldn't Big 12 winner still make the Fiesta Bowl's first pick?

The Sugar Bowl tie-in between those two conferences doesn't start until 2014's season, I thought.

How would you see a UT-UNC Music City Bowl and a Vandy-Tulsa Liberty Bowl?

GaTech will not finish #2 or #3 in the ACC thus no Peach bowl. My guess would be Miami or VaTech

I'd watch it...but would the networks be worried about both teams being in the same tv markets?

While most fans would watch most bowls, and folks would watch a Tx vs aTm rival scenario, would networks try to guarantee a wider regional market for advertising, etc...

or maybe I'm over thinking an offseason "what if" thread LOL.

I think GT goes 9-3 losing to VT,Clemson and Georgia. I think GT could be picked for local interest.

But that would also mean almost no hotel rooms purchased, no tourism, etc. Just half a team's worth of fans - already from the city itself - showing up for the game itself and then leaving.

It's different to say that about a state team that plays in a different city (like UT) and a team like GT that plays in the same city (and is kind of 2nd to another team in the state)

Great points,If the Peach Bowl thinks of it that way GT goes to the Music City bowl,Belk Bowl or Russell Athletic Bowl.

I think the bigger issue is Fiesta usually picks/gets first choice at the Big 12 champ.

It might require another team winning the Big 12 and Texas doing well enough to be at-large

(Also Texas has such a big market that any bowl would gladly take a BCS longhorns as an at large team)

I can't figure that either. I think the Chick Fil-A Bowl would love an 8-4 Florida team. Florida hasn't went since 1981 I believe. I have USC going to the Outback because of a better record than Florida.

Well, outside the BCS bowls, it's not as much about record unless there's a clear, more than 1 game divide between the teams.

Then sometimes the bowls trade a spot, or one that's supposed to take an East/West team takes the other instead. Bowls will sometimes try to get away from teams they've seen too much recently or ones that have had poor ticket sales in recent/past games

It can get kind of complicated.

Kind of curious; how so?

If UF and South Carolina are that close record-wise, and I'm the Chick Fil'a Bowl shot caller, I don't want Florida.

We didn't sell our allotment for our last two BCS bowl games.

South Carolina fans aren't nearly as spoiled, and would travel well to Atlanta.

Wouldn't UF be more likely to end up in the Gator bowl rather than the Outback bowl if that's the driving reason?
