Good Morning, I have decided to get a room in Knoxvegas and take my family of 4 down for the Orange and White Game. This will be my sons(4.5 years old) first experience at a live sporting event and I figure what better place to do a trial run than a free spring game. I have a few questions though...Are they still doing the Volwalk, what gameday activities are there, Did I hear that there is a meet and greet. Since we are getting in tomorrow night(friday), I would like them to experience some of Knoxville's finest....Any advice on Littons or other places that would be good for a family. My daughter is a 14 year old Color gaurd member who is ready to see the Pride of the Southland. So all in all....any advice to help us get the most from our journey....Thanks

Taking my 5yr old to the game Saturday for the first time also. He's been to Tommy Bowl a couple times (once for last season's home opener and again for Monster Jam), but this will be his first experience inside Neyland. We always drive by it and he has always been in awe of the outside, but I can't wait for him to see what it's like inside, especially filled (mostly, I hope) with screaming Orange and White fans. I'd love to know more about the activities before and after the game too.

Have fun guys. My kid was 9 when I took him to his first game. Chest bumped Trooper and high 5'ed Fulmer on the Vol Walk. Biggest thrill for him that day, he got to pet Smokey. He is a die hard Vol now. Soak it in, they grow up fast.

They are not doing the Volwalk because the players will already be inside the stadium for the meet and greet. I don't know about the Pride. IIRC they were not at the O&W game last year.

I will be taking my three year old son to the game. This will be his second O&W game in a row. He had fun last year so I am hoping fun this year. GBO

Be here early, I'm not sure about the vol walk but fan day starts at 11:30 gate 7, so be there early, there is a baseball game vs ole miss Friday at 6:00, which depending on if you like baseball is a great way to start off.

This will be my 3-year-old girl's first trip to Neyland. My boys (5 and 9) are seasoned veterans.

The band was definitely there 2 years ago (I have video), but I don't remember last year. The O&W game is PERFECT for small children, mainly because you can go wherever you want. Raining? Move. Sun's in your face? Move. As the game progresses, we always tend to gravitate down towards Smokey, same place he always is, right in front of the band.

We are starting my second born off early. He will be making his first trip to Neyland and will be 6 months old on Sunday. Good thing the wife is also going because the young one probably wont stay long so me and the 7yr old can watch the game. Hope everyone has a safe weekend with their families and GO ROCKY TOP!

I will be taking my 11 year old son and 9 year old daughter and one in my wife's belly starting her off right!! I would like to get some autographs but I bet if your not there at 7 a.m. to get in line you can forget it. And I am afraid the little ones would be tired by game time if we go that early cause we have an hour drive before hand. To bad they don't start autograph session at like 9 to give folks time to get through the line before the game starts.

We didn't get there nearly that early last year (maybe an hour or so early) and we got autographs of all the coaches (minus Dooley) and a great pic of us with Smokey and his crew. We're coming from 2.5 hours away.

I thought about trying to arrive at like 11:15

My son is 3 and we haven't taken him to a game yet. He has been inside Neyland and he loved it! I'm hoping we can take him to a game this year

I returned from overseas in 2004 and the wife and I took the two youngest daughters to see the Vols play UNLV, opening game. My daughter, she is 23 now, decided to be a pain, not wear orange and disgruntled, typical teenager. About mid-way through the first quarter, if that long, her tune changed. She asked if we could buy her a shirt and hat, so my wife, I was not leaving the seat(hehe), picked one up at one of the shops and she slipped it on over her other clothing. Nothing like witnessing a Vol convert live in Neyland.

For what it's worth I go to UT and haven't heard the Pride practicing so I would assume they arn't gonna be there. Usually they practice all around campus and in Neyland if they are actually preforming. Have fun though! I remember my first game in Neyland and it made me want to go to UT!

Good for you. I hope you all enjoy. We took my 3 year old son, named Peyton:), and my 1 year old daughter to the Mizzou-Tennessee game last year. Despite what some negavols posted on here about the proper age for taking a child to a Vol game, it was the greatest memory we have had yet. My son still talks about the game and what he remembers from that trip that we took from Kansas City to Knoxville. I hope it is as special for your family as it was for ours.

We were originally gonna go to the Missouri game last year but ended up going to the Troy game instead (my brother in law got us free tickets) Yeah I want to take my son soon because he loves watching the games with me at home. I think he would really have a good time watching it at Neyland!

I've been to 20-30 O&W games & never remember the Band not being there. They probably won't march in like at the real games, but they'll be there playing.

I'm taking my 3 year old boy for his first trip to Neyland and my 8 year old girl for her second trip. The daughter and I went to the Montana game for her first trip. We all went to the Mississippi St basketball game this year. Looking foward to a great weekend.
