Someone had asked in another thread about the PSP. Mine came in the mail today.

What a beautiful piece of hardware. The screen on this thing is downright incredible. I threw in Tony Hawk and it seemed to be exactly like the PS2 version (with some new levels). Pretty freakin' amazing that they can pretty much shrink a PS2 down into a portable machine.

There aren't a ton of games right now so the price might not be worth it to most. If you aren't interested in the current games, I'd say hold off until some come out you want. You might be able to find a deal between now and then. I lucked out and got it at Overstock for $221 shipped one night last week.

I haven't put any mp3s or anything on it yet. I don't really need an mp3 or movie player so I'm not sure when I'll get around to trying those things.

Most reports have it at around 4 to 5 hours during game play. I've read first hand results from friends that have gotten 6 or 7 hours while playing games. It really depends on what you are doing. If the drive is spinning, it's using more battery power. If you are just playing mp3s off the memory stick, it should last 6-8 hours easy. Battery is fairly small, so picking up a spare probably wouldn't be too bad if it concerns you.

Even the wife thought it was cool. Got a game called Lumines which is sort of like a new age Tetris. She likes playing it so far. We both like the puzzle type games.

Another awesome feature is the sleep mode. I can be in the middle of playing Tony Hawk, mid jump, and hit sleep mode. Come back a few hours later and wake it up. It's immediately back at the exact spot you were at before. That is a very cool feature, I think. No more having to back out and save your progress if you have to put it down for awhile.

I watched Spiderman 2 on one in homeroom yesterday. PSPs are awesome!

I played around with one at Best Buy yesterday and it was pretty cool. I do have issues about the battery though. No matter how long it lasts now, it's still a Sony battery. They are notorious for being AWFUL in all their products. They are also very expensive to replace. I suggest an extended warranty if it includes battery replacement. It usually pays for itself with one battery which will die very quickly.
