Its completely formulated, without taking the polls into consideration. Basically an RPI for football.
Well that's fine, it's your poll. I completely disagree with it, but whatever. :dunno:

It's ok, I even disagree with where UT is ranked. Unfortunately, although I believe the SEC is the toughest conference, because the teams beat up on each other so much, it hurts every SEC team's SoS.

Also, part of the formula is (Wins minus losses), therefore, UT and ND having a bye week actually hurts them in this weeks rankings (I basically count that as equivalent to a pit stop in NASCAR, might turn the guy running 3rd into 25th place temporarily, but it all evens out once everyone else pits.)

Just ran some numbers through to illustrate the previous point, if UT had played a Div II team this weekend, instead of having the week off, and won, they would be ranked 7th in my rankings.

Accounting...so, close enough.

The actual formula I used is:

((wins-losses)*(the sum of opponents' winning percentage)+(limited point differential/games played))/games played

Explanation of limited point differential: The most points you can get or lose in one game is 21, which is subjective to say the least, but I feel that if you beat a team by 21 or more then you have blown them out.

WOW, actually had a large error in my formula, that I noticed after explaining it to rockytopscott. I am posting the revised numbers up top.
