Attended coaching clinic and practice. I know peyton said positive quotes about kiffy/ dools but I think he truly likes this staff. I noticed peyton/ butch joking/ laughing with no one else around. Could be anything but he had to think highly of Jones to speak for an hour and a half at clinic.

On staff: talked to many of them and sat in on their position seminars. Stripling has great philosophies and drills for the DL. Excited to see big dan under him. Janchek is very intelligent with great defensive schemes. Butch jus GETS IT! PERIOD. His philosphies on football and the way he motivates/ practices is way outside the box.

Practice: key word INTENSE. FAST!
Players:
croom. HUGE! Very lean for his size. Was very gimpy from hammy
Maggitt/ a.j. studs
rajhad jones: tweeked his knee in drills
Pig. Made a few sick catches with moves for yardage.
A. Hill. Ran hard north to south. Ran over a few dbs without hesitation. Look out for him. Seems to be playing with a chip
Worley: a few good throws and suprised me with quickness. Few nice runs
Peterman. About same as worley imo
DL:
Jaques Smith: looks very quick this yr. Noticeably quicker than others in drills.
Corey miller: quicker as well
m walls: very vocal on the field!
Hood: big specimen but plays too high. Gives his all though
Big Dan: MONSTER. If stripling can get this guy quicker and lower than we have a john henderson again. When he played low he threw j. Stone and fulton around
*corey vereen: suprisingly big. Very athletic for ee. From what I saw he will see mins at de

In conclusion.
Lots of excitement from high school coaches, playets, and many recruits walkin around. I could see recruits eyes light up when defensive sideline would get a fumble/ interception and started stormin the field yelling jumping with excitement. Butch was active all practice

Quinn: hUGE! looks very athletic te

Curt Maggit is going to sick good for us when he gets healthy ...he struggled a little in laste year before getting hurt but even then he was far better than others !!

Maggitt was slowed most of the season with the turf toe. He stayed in Glennon's face in the NC State backfield in the season opener. But then he got the turf toe I believe in the 2nd or 3rd game and it seriously effected his pass rush ability. If he is 100% healthy in the fall I expect him to have a great year. We should have a very good LB corp.

I don't think it can be emphasized enough how important it is for high school coaches especially in Tennessee to be on the Butch bandwagon! Thanks for all this info! Let's FILL NEYLAND this Saturday!!!

It's great to hear so many positive things heading into the Spring game---we need it! This season is going to be a fun ride---totally don't know what to expect but unlike with Dooley where you had a sense of dread every single game at least you get the sense Butch knows what he has in this team and how they need to operate. Razor thin margin for the team and the only hope I have is everyone gets healed up for Austin Peay.

We have some talent on the defensive side of the ball, there is no doubt. However they must be able to remain healthy for the entire season. It is critical that Big Dan stays low and Danny gets stronger.

Got a report tonight from an SEC ref that worked the practice. Said he LOVES Coach Jones and he will be great here in time, but said that we are very thin with our roster and will be a rough next couple of years. Said we need to be patient with Jones because he thought he would get us there, but we don't have a lot to work with right now.

Hood: big specimen but plays too high. Gives his all though

I know he has had a tough young life, but tell him drugs aren't the answer and he's going to get us in trouble.

Great report...Thanks and keep them coming

You know something we don't about Hood and drugs?

He means pad level. Hood's bad at using leverage.
