I think once everyone gets off the Gruden high, you'll realize that Jones is actually a good coach. 50-27 overall record, 4 conference titles in 6 years while coaching in two separate conferences.I think we can all agree that he is better than the frat boy and lawyer that we hired the last two times. Our players will play hard for Jones. I have a really good feeling about Butch. He's an actual Football coach.

UT fan since birth. Really got old enough and attuned in the early 90's for it to become a fever and for UT to become my family. I have been a proud vols fan through all of this debotchary of the past 7 years. I have the battle scars of baring the brunt of jokes and laughter for so proudly supporting my beloved orange during this recession of the power T all the while proclaiming that we will soon return to prominence, you wait and see. When Dooley was announced, it very well could have been the worst day of my life. I knew as so many did the he was way in over his head. As most I wished him the best but always knew he would not be the one and counted down the days that we would hit reset. Over the past 3 weeks I may have put in more hours than HART ( in fact I am pretty sure I did ) researching possible candidates for our return to the top. I did not like strong, I did not like gundy nor fedora. I thought we should have taken a hard run at Jim mora jr. ( he will be a stud). However when the butch name starting to get serious play, I did my dillegence and guys while he is not a household name, the only weakness I see is no SEC experience and no superstar assistants. I love his passion and energy, that is what made the kiffin regime attractive to big time recruits, except CBJ has class and seems not be a douche. Each passing moment I am liking the hire more and more and think if this is his dream job he will pour his heart into the program, bring us back and keep us firmly perched at the top. His success at this point will depend upon the staff he surrounds himself with. It is paramount that he retains and adds some vols flavor at the right positions to help breed tradition and vol passion. CBJ, it is all up to you know brother in orange, go out and get it done. Until you start to favor Dooley you will have my support!

Wonder how many football/NFL fans in this state would ever pull for a Gruden-coached NFL team, should he ever be so "lucky" as to get another NFL gig.

I was on the Gruden wagon and was as dillusional as others, though in reality I knew it was a long shot. I have always liked Gruden, and have no problem with him not wanting to be a college coach. I do however have big issue with how his agent disrespected our fan base and university, and he never made a statement. I thought he had more respect for our university, Coach Majors, his wife.... I don't give a rip about him now and hope his name is never brought up around here again.

I, for one, am looking forword to being proven wrong. Although I was hoping for Gruden...(yet not participating in all the furor...i.e. "Grudenites'...) this Butch Jones deal does not have me excited for the future of Tennessee football.

I have a strong feeling that this whole search was botched and we "settled". And listening to Hart...and meeting him in person before the Chick-fil-A kickoff here in Atlanta...he is an "A" typical "short man's syndrome" sufferer. His "jokes' at the Pressor were creepy and uncomfortable...just like he is.

I look forward to being proven wrong. But...we'll see.

As for AD's, neither of Hart's predecessors were brimming with p.r. skills, nor did they seem to be really comfortable in a p.c. either, especially Dickey who was pretty short-spoken, so Hart isn't too unusual in that regard.

I am firmly on the J Train. With apologies to the bashers, get your heads out of the OGs' arses and open your eyes to what the national media is trying to tell us. This guy is a rising star.

And, after watching him address the team as well as his Cincy players response to him, it is clear he has "it."

I was a grudenite 100%, but I will have to say jones impressed me. He has the gift of gab
And has had success in the past, albeit in lesser conferences. He now has to recruit and out strategize the best coaches in the buisiness. He has no easy road ahead. Looking at the schedule I think 6-6 is reaching. I feel 4-5 wins is more likely. Time will tell. His staff will be paramount especial defense and special teams. If he brings his Cincy staff I feel is a failure. He has 2-3 years to prove himself, if not the carousel motors will rev up again.
Good luck coach jones I will be cheering for you

Jones might have been a big yawn for a hire, but at least he isn't an egotistical, vain, piece of gutterslime like Gruden. He needs to sell his land in TN because he is no longer welcome here. F*** you Gru, and good luck, Jones.

Says the chairman of the Welcome Wagon.

I think most here wish Coach Jones good luck. I sure do. But we aren't disparaging Coach Gruden. Maybe it is understandable coming from someone with a screen name "iluvmesomedooley." I would retire that puppy yesterday. It's stale.

My biggest issue at this point is the "fantasy land" comment by Gruden's agent. It was an insult to UT any way you slice it. IMO, Gruden does not get a pass here because the agent made the comment instead of Gruden himself. The agent is a representative of Gruden and it clearly leaves the impression that he thinks he's too "big" for us. I wanted Gruden here as much as anyone but CBJ is growing on me the more I learn about him. Hopefully, he can get this thing turned around.

Gruden is an ego-maniac and he hurt UT by posing that he really wanted to coach here. I doubt he ever had any intention of taking a college job. Remember he was fired from Tampa Bay after he won a superbowl with Dungi's studs . But , he did win a super bowl and I remember him giving himself most of the credit cause he knew Oakland offense . He should have since he coached there the year before. RE: Jones, wait and see, it might work, but, we paid way too much again. Dont learn from past blunders.
