UNITED NATIONS - South Korean troops fired warning shots Saturday after five North Korean soldiers crossed a boundary in the Demilitarized Zone separating the two countries, South Korean military officials said.
The incident occurred shortly before noon near a stream in the largely deserted no man’s land, and came amid tensions over North Korea’s recent announcement that it plans to test its first nuclear bomb.

Hmmmm.................

This is kind of like holding in a football game. The ref could throw a flag on every play, if he wanted to. The media could report this on a weekly basis, both sides at fault. It is being reported today simply because of the new tension concerning the nuclear tests...

You got it...............

Or N. Korea could pull a James Bond and use Icarus and destroy the DMZ.

RealUT is right. This happens all the time. Just a matter of media picking it up when they want to.

Sometimes it is actually probing in order to determine the morale and alertness of the enemy, sometimes it is just the fact that the parts of the DMZ are very ill defined to young troops on the ground.

Either way, not a big deal, IMO.
