I always liked Namath as a NY Jet. I have worn orange since birth, but Namath was cool. My pee wee team took a bus from Huntsville to Legion Field and watched a preseason game one year. Jets vs Chiefs with Namath at the helm for the Jets. The signature white cleats when everybody else wore black was cool. It's the Bama part that takes a little of the luster off though. But being a kid in the '60s, hard to be a hater. Fur coats, hot women, fumanchu...His week beat most peoples year. He legitimized the old AFL by beating the Colts in the Superbowl. That was a good era for me in pro football.

Yeah, given his knee history, I figured he'd have ended up like Jim Otto by now. Then again he had a lot more money and post playing career opportunities than big 00 did.
