Name a more significant regular season win than a W over Bama

Thought this would be interesting - not that I think beating Bama is in any way likely I'm not going to rule it out now that the boys are fighting for 4 quarters. IF we somehow win Saturday, can you think of a regular season win in modern vols football history that meant more to the program than a win Saturday would mean?

There have been bigger wins throughout history...but I can't think of one that would mean more to the program than a victory over Bama...at Bama...at this time. It is not a gotta have game, but it would be oh so sweet, and probably eliminate any lingering doubts in some of the recruits. It would just announce to the world a year earlier that we are back, and CBJ is the man!

Alabama is the CFB unit of measure. Any team that beats Bama instantly gets not just national but international acclaim for the team and coaching staff. None bigger for any program at this time.

agreed. ...following 4 years of losses with Manning, that was a significant win at the beginning of the season and IMO set the tone for everything that followed it. I'm sure there are a few other significant wins, but 98 UF was the one that immediately came to mind for me..

1982 for sure. We were unranked and beat the #1 team in the land. It was huge. We had not beaten them for 11 years.
