NCAA investigators "A new bylaw went into effect on the first of the year that allows the organization to presume schools guilty of violations, and the institutions then have to prove their innocence. It has staffed up in its enforcement wing, and it has more hires to go. "

I suspect this NCAA action will speed up the process of Universities turning their collective backs on the NCAA.
Head hunting for NIL deals and violations is a non starter with any Top Program.

So guilty until proven innocent? That’s a bold strategy Cotton.

Time for the P5 schools at a minimum to just remove football and probably basketball and baseball from the NCAA purview entirely.

Give the Group of 5 an incentive to join the revolt. Maybe state that the new power structure will only support games between schools who have also walked away from the NCAA. Smaller schools would have to join in to get their payday games to keep their programs afloat.

If it is decided to leave the folks in Indy in charge of rules for womens lacrosse or whatever-then so be it.

I'm in no way a big fan of the way CFB is going so don't take my comments to be otherwise. Just know that the cat is most definitely out of the bag by this point and there's no turning back.

Or just change the name NCPA. Substitute Pro for Amateur. Clinging to the word Amateur at this point is laughable.

Not really what the rule is according to the source article from Sports Illustrated.

"Investigators can now use circumstantial evidence (like a tip or news story) instead of on-record sourcing to presume a school violated NCAA rules. Schools can disprove the allegation or else be potentially charged. The move strengthens the enforcement staff’s ability to charge schools and allows more leeway for investigators. "

All it would take is basketball and the whole landscape shifts. Virtually all of the NCAA's revenue comes from the NCAA tournament. Anything touches that and I'm not sure how there continues to be any recognizable NCAA to do much of anything.

I was looking at rugby a bit earlier. Rugby's not a varsity sport, it's a club sport. We compete in the Southeastern Collegiate Rugby Conference, which as far as I can tell is governed by National Collegiate Rugby. It's not like sport can't exist without NCAA guidance.

Please let the NCAA stick around long enough to pin Michigan and Harbaugh to the wall just one good time, and then let them drift off to obscurity. I need this for letting my in-laws have it.

Ncaa isn’t doing anything to a major program. They will nuke some midmajor into oblivion to feel relevant again but they aren’t touching any power school in the big ten or sec. They know what would happen if they did.

See though, I feel like this could be their suicide pill…I am not that important anymore, but I will still have my one last F you…I will throw some acid in the face of the first somebody who gives me a reason on the way out the door and let God sort it out. As long as that somebody is Michigan (And I don’t know if I would have it any other way) then let’s just grab our popcorn and see what happens.
