That's my starting lineup! At least when Jones gets healthy, I view this group as most likely to give maximum effort, dive for loose balls, play better defensively, and care about winning! Those who don't care enough to take inbounding the ball seriously, who loaf getting back to defend against transition buckets, who loiter around at the top of the circle, and don't battle for rebounds and value to get putback points around the rim...take a seat and enjoy watching those who show heart and pride and passion for the sport play. I would have ZERO tolerance for players reluctant to give maximum effort! This team needs an attitude adjustment in the worst way! Games are won in the trenches fighting for every rebound and scoring opportunity. There is a reason every gym has a scoreboard and clock. Time is precious, scoring opportunities are precious, and those who don't care enough to block out, defend, and work relentlessly to improve their offensive skills...enjoy the view from the end of the bench.

Agree. Just waiting on some important pieces to get healthy and basketball shape. To me all the injuries kept the whole team down.

GO LADY VOLS!

I would be inclined to agree except ND has played with injuries. That in part is Muffy knows what lineup will bring the best results. I agree with the afore mentioned lineup but will we see that lineup? Holly will put Russell in the lineup and she will get eaten up by OSU's center. OSU's center needs to play against a physical center and to date that is not Russell.

I though Jones was cleared by her doctor to play. I hope this does not turn into a Tucker drama. I think with Jones our team is much better. That girl can jump out of the gym and she plays an aggressive style.

I'm with you in the sense that Reynolds needs to be benched, and both Cooper and Russell probably should get less playing time. With this lineup we'd have two power forwards in Jones and Graves who are good rebounders, and DeShields too. I also think Carter should be our point guard--she is good at running the team--and DeShields play the 2 (shooting guard) spot. However, I have worries about Jones--her basketball IQ is terrible. Beyond that: this lineup offers little in the way of outside shooting. Who except DeShields is going to make outside shots? She is it! This is a problem.

For that reason, I'd like to see Dunbar get more minutes. Let's see how she does. True, she's not the defender Jones is--but she can shoot, and we need /somebody/ to help pick up our TERRIBLE offense--and I also think she probably understands the game better than Jones.

I can see giving Cooper some good minutes when we are facing a man defense--but not zone. And we will need to play Russell, I think, if we are facing a team with a formidable big--but that's pretty rare. I really think we have four players who should play a lot--Carter, Graves, Nared and DeShields. How everybody else fits in, what defense to play, how to press, etc.--that's the challenge. I would like to see us mix our defenses up more--play more zone. Good, smart teams like Stanford and Notre Dame and UConn kills our man defense because we are not smart and because we have players who aren't totally committed to defense and get beat off the dribble too much--see Reynolds, Cooper and DeShields.

I think Middleton should play a little more. She is a better outside shooter than Cooper and and Reynolds and does commit fully to defense. Warlick can't keep playing guards who are shooting 25/31 percent, committing turnovers and playing mediocre defense.

We've got to start forcing tempo more with a press. It helps our offense. And we really have to start making a few more threes. Our guard play and lack of outside/3-point shooting is killing us.

Jordan has not played well this year which is a little surprising to me. I too would like to see Dunbar get more minutes. We must start shooting better and Dunbar is just as well equipped to shoot and hit as practically anyone else on the team. If they don't find a way to unclog the paint, we will not be able to get paint points with any consistency. It has been rare that the LV's have not had an outside and inside game at the same time….one or the other but not both.

The starting lineups wont matter if the coach can not coach them properly. We have Top College Basketball talent with a middle school coach/coaching staff. Players have lost their desire to play for the coach, many people seem to forget the telling moment of this early season. The team was playing like crap and Holly decided to sit herself down the rest of the game and we went on a run and looked like the team we were expected to look like. The same thing happened during the second half of the Stanford game she decided to sit on the end of the bench and "not coach" and we got within 5 points only for her to try to coach again and sub in Russell & Reynolds. She is the problem and players have figured out that she isn't a good coach. You can get by as a bad coach when the talent isn't that great (or vocal) but when you get a team with talent and a star (or players) who have about the same Bball IQ they then realize the coach is a fraud and no longer want to play for them. Elzy coaches the wings, Dean coaches the post and law and Holly coaches the guards. How has Dunbar (in limited minutes) Diamond, and Nared looked so far this season and how has everyone else looked?

Reynolds and Carter... Should not be on the floor at all. They both are horrible. They don't look like basketball players. We have no guards.

Diamond... PG
Meme (more minutes)...SG
Nared
Jones
Graves...

Wow, this is not lady vols basketball. Let's go ladies.

Are you sure about Jas in the starting lineup, because when she got injuried a couple of posters were happy she was out.

Diamond cannot play PG. She's a shooter, not a distributor of the ball. No one else will ever get involved in the offense. Reynolds has brought nothing to the PG spot. I'd rather see Carter start there with Middleton getting more minutes as PG.

Jasmine plays hard, now with those two concussions will that make her apprehensive, tentative, and or hesistant.

That's why some of us don't mind her mistakes, cos at least she plays hard. She looks like she is giving maximum effort, we can't say the same for the rest of the ladies.

Get well Jasmine and bring it!

Well, Carter sucks at point sorry. Reynolds sucks at point guard. Carter sucks at shooting guard. Reynolds sucks at shooting guard so...She ran the offense so poor hello, how many points did we score with her starting as point guard, so no she is not the answer sorry.

Diamond ran the point in the 4th quarter, and she just initiates the offense, and she can run the point, she is better than any one we have on our current roster. Plus it allows us to get Meme and Nared more minutes.

I'm tired of seeing Reynolds and Carter, I would roll my dice with the two freshman guards Meme and Cooper, I wish Meme could get more minutes. If Reynolds and Carter are playing extended and more than 10 minutes, this will be a long season.

Ok, they can change the name to Tennessee Vols, cos this certainly ain't Lady Vols basketball. ijs

Like right now, I was thinking which player on the team you think is as pissed off and upset about the lost as some of us were.

NONE! Maybe Graves cos its her Senior year, but she was playing like **** most of the game too.

For the life of me I don't know what you all see in Jones. Whatever small advantage she has on defense over other players she more than loses 10 times over with her propensity to turn the ball over AND just how lost she looks on offense when she's not turning it over.

I'd like to see Dunbar get more minutes. Let's see how she does.

I've been screaming for weeks about Dunbar getting more playing time. She has the best 3 point % on the team. She's a TALL player who can get rebounds. She doesn't look as good defensively as other players but I can't remember her ever embarrassing herself either.

I'd start Carter at point and Cooper as her back-up.
I'd start Nared at the 3 and Dunbar be her back-up.
I'd start DeShields at the 2 .
I'd start Russell at the 4.
I'd start Graves at the 5.

I'd try not to sub for DeSheilds, Russell, or Graves unless it was unavoidable and I'd go to Cooper or Dunbar and a 4 guard line-up. Meme would be my 3rd sub if needed. Middleton, Reynolds, Jones, and Moore would get very limited minutes if I was making the decisions based on what I've seen.

Start benching players for the entire game based on turnovers or poor defensive effort and I bet dollars to donuts we'd start getting results.

Carter and Reynolds will get outplayed by every guard we face. Our guard play is altrocious, and to be an elite team, you need good guard play.

What play from Draya and Reynolds in the past three years has proven to you they are the answer? They both actually look worse this season.

Defense, Rebounds and Good Guard play wins Championships. Maybe something will click for em.

Russell in the starting lineup will be sending the wrong message, and having Reynolds and Carter on the floor, is a liability, I say we roll the dice and start the two freshman, **** it won't look any worse.

Cooper
Meme
DeShields
Nared
Graves

I agree Carter at the point and Deshields at the two. Nared, Graves, and Russell. They need to play 30 minutes. My three subs are Jackson, Cooper, and Dunbar.

From Holly after the Stanford game: Warlick noted how forward Kortney Dunbar didn't touch the ball again after hitting a 3-pointer in the third quarter against Stanford.

"Get it back to her," Warlick said. "We talked about that. Get it back to her. That's what she's in there for."

Sounds like DD and Cooper don`t listen

It is apparent that Cooper and Deshields haven't seen a shot they didn't like. They could help this team so much by drawing and dishing but Cooper only passes when she gets in to deep and gets in trouble. Deshields will pass a couple but she likes to shoot and takes a lot of shots she should pass up.

This is sad when a coach can't control her players and admits to it during interviews. Sounds like the players could give a crap about what Holly says. She may know basketball but it is apparent she is not an ineffective leader. This is just crazy.
