You've taken this way out of perspective, Labonte has a championship, Martin on the other hand has blown many championship oppurtunities.

Martin. He's come up short several times, but been close enough to where one can say he's blown it more than once. Bobby has a Cup, but hasn't been on the level Mark has throughout his time

Mark Martin, and it's not really close. Labonte had two GREAT years in 1999 and 2000, but other than that Martin has been better for a much longer time.

Mark Martin by far.Martin can take any car up to the front. As soon as another driver takes over, the same care does nothing. To me,Bobby Labonte is just Terry Labonte's little brother.

Yeah, a little brother with a championship. Last time I counted it was one more than Mark Martin.

What was this thread all about? What did I miss??

I said that it was stupid to say Mark Martin was better than anyone that had ever won a championship so they started taking shots at Labonte. Bottom line, in order to be considered elite you have to win a championship whic h Bobby has done

I don't know about the other people here, but I'm not taking shot's at Bobby.I have nothing against him. It's my opinion thet he is not on the level of Mark Martin as a driver
Bobby Labonte did not win that championship on his own
and that one accomplishment does not make him better driver than Mark Martin. So all USAF Vol proved was that he can count to one.Congrats on that.

OK, you win. Mark Martin is better. Shame on Bobby for not winning a championship on his own.

I'm not trying to win anythig. It's just my opinion and you are not wrong for having yours. I will site another example in Charlotte where Bobby practicaly pulled the 18 car over and let Jimmie Johnson go by for the win.Again,I am not stating for a fact who's better or who's not.Just my opinion.

I was just trying to prove a point that winning a championship doesnt make you better than everyone else whom hasn't won one. A championship winner-yes. A better driver-no. Judging from the 9 posters whom have voted, it looks I am in the majority.

Exactly. To judge individual driving abilities using a team achievment as the only criteria is not going to result in any clear determination of one driver being better than the other.

That is like saying a star player on a team that did not win a championship is not a good player. It is like someone saying Stockton, Malone, Marino, etc were not good players just because they did not win a championship. I like Bobby, but not as consistant as Mark Martin

Whoa! With the exception of some trash talk,no one is saying Bobby Labonte is not good.Bobby Labonte is a good driver.I think it's pretty clear this is a thread to evaluate who is better. Big difference.
