NASCAR to ban testing

while i think NO testing at NASCAR sanctioned tracks is a bit extreme, i like the fact that it's an even playing field for all teams, be it one car or four.

Yeah I agree that it is somewhat fair. The teams with the money can still test at non-sanctioned tracks though. It would be more fair to have 5 or 6 test at NASCAR tracks and say that is it. Maybe even just have the Daytona speed weeks just to let the teams knock the dust off.

Before long NASCAR will start issuing a car to each driver on Wed. and just make it one big IROC series.

Good news for some track owners of non Cup/Nationwide/Truck tracks. Lanier, Oxford Plains, Stafford, Myrtle Beach, the ORIGINAL Nashville (which may be torn down after next year), Irwindale, Pikes Peak, etc. - all of those track owners are probably doing cartwheels with that news today.

I think they should limit the number of crew passes to each team to whatever number is practical, but a significant drop from what they have now. They also need to look at the schedule as to geographics. They could space out the cross country events better, and in some cases reduce the days at the event by one day. I am not sure about restricting the number of tires as it might hurt the racing.

Their thought is that less days the track is open is less money in their pocket. They LOVE 3 day weekends.

Next we'll see Hendrick and Roush build their own test tracks. Couldn't you just see a 1.5 mile sitting out in a field somewhere in Carolina. :)

i don't remember the name of it, but there are many here that probably will. There is a multi million computer machine simulator than just about shows you everything you need to know. You can even simulate tracks. It's a 7 point or 8 point something. The only thing I know of that it has trouble testing is grip/tire.

That is where NASCAR is going to screw up. Goodyear is seriously struggling with the COT and the drivers aren't going to be able to catch up with what Goodyear produces.

I think it's called a 7 post shaker rig.
