Those are the primary and secondary ignition boxes. They used to be covered and located on what would be a passenger side floor board (if stock cars carried passengers) but all the talk of traction control devices led na$car to move them to the dashboard (and uncover them) so that the inspectors could check them easier.

I agree. Stock cars and road courses make for some really bad television. I have no doubt that the road courses bring the best drivers to the front, but that doesn't mean I enjoy watching it.

Road courses make for some boring racing regardless of what kind of cars are running on them. That's one of the reasons that nobody gives a flip about champ cars or Formula One.

The Sonoma race Sunday was the most watched road race in Cup ever. It also ranked as one of the top 9 most viewed races out the 16 or 17 or however amny they've ran so far.

I think the road courses are necessary just to mix it up a little. God knows if Brian "&&&& for brains" France had his way that all but one of the 37 races would be on 1.5 mile cookie cutters, except the Daytona 500.

That wouldn't surprise me though because ratings are up for NASCAR across the board this year.

Perhaps, but what I think NASCAR really needs are more short tracks.

God knows if Brian "&&&& for brains" France had his way that all but one of the 37 races would be on 1.5 mile cookie cutters, except the Daytona 500.

You can bet that he will get his way because he is a France. On the other hand, that's the only kind of track anybody will build anymore. Why dosen't anyone build another Bristol? Year after year, the fans vote the two Bristol races as the favorites by a huge margin, yet everybody continues to build the 1.5 mile "cookie cutter" tracks.
